When it’s about cars, the “think of the children” machine suddenly breaks.
Come on. Electing pedophile presidents ring a bell?
And ironically it’s one of the few cases where it’s a legitimate argument since the kids are actually being killed instead of merely exercising their autonomy in a way someone doesn’t like.
No, it just switches to “ten points each” mode.
Oh for cars it works, just not for anything actually benefitting children directly.
Um… In US car drivers have sacrificed lives of their own children…
Not sure it counts as a sacrifice if that’s your preference.
To the right column, I would add, “Occasionally getting stuck behind a school bus, and not being allowed to pass as the stop every block”. It’s not much, but I think having 1 thing in the right column is a little bit funnier.
This implies drivers stop for buses

Fair point. I don’t even need to click the link, my mother-in-law and my sister-in-law both drive busses. I thought drivers blowing past would MAYBE happen every few years but apparently it happens to them at least every week.
“Not driving ar maximum speed”
I can’t let my child ride their bike on our street because of the assholes that speed down our road. I saw a biker almost get hit the other day by some idiot driver.
Given the sheer size many trucks and SUVs have ballooned up into now, pedestrians should be armed with bricks crossing the street now.
I know I’m going to be publicly beheaded for saying this, but I somehow doubt the kids aren’t playing in the street any more for a different reason.
Kids play on dead end streets in my neighbourhood, but not on streets with multiple access points.
I wonder why that correlation exists.
My quibble is that the streets wouldn’t exist without vehicle traffic (including horses). I’m sure it was safer to play in a street meant for horse traffic though.
