Imagine not tipping your landlord.
This generation man…
So selfish and entitled
That’s why none kf these kids are getting any houses. They really called this upon themselves
I didn’t know until now that there is a debate about tipping your landlord. For me this sounds unbelievable. It’s like tipping your politicians and policemen. Or in another way like tipping your mum.
like tipping your mum.
Widely believed to be impossible
That poor landlord is living from your paycheck to the next.
Do NOT be kind to your landlord.
My landlord lost their house gambling so I offered them to rent one of my rooms at discount as a roommate.
Now whenever my rent increases due to cost of living, I increase their rent due to cost of living.
We are in a sick perpetual cycle and both our rents went up 5000% yesterday. We are comrades in this pain and promised to protect each other if liver selling operation goes wrong.
It’s a hateful bond, an adversarial friendship, and a dying survival. Somebody please help!
5000%?
Our landlord wanted us to pay for the ac being fixed…during the hottest part of July.
You could be on fire in front of me, and I’d piss on you. Tell me you’re a landlord and I’ll need the first month and last month deposit first.
Thats wild
Oh it gets better. The hurricane that ripped through Georgia a year or so back ripped up our fence. They wanted us to keep it there until they could find someone to put it up.
It was rotted and no one wanted to do it…they were gonna keep a rotted fence on the ground in our yard.
I don’t know about you, but Georgia got some bad snakes. I broke that bitch down, built a fire pit and burned it. They can marinate my family jewels if they think I’d keep a snake den in my back yard with my 6 yr old.
My last landlord put a clause in the lease that made me responsible for any sewer line repairs. I was like what the fuck is this? He said it was because tenants tend to flush shit you shouldn’t flush and that’s why sewer lines need to be replaced. To his credit (sort of) he took that out when I said no way I was signing. He was a member of that species of landlord that just puts whatever into leases because some people will sign anything.
The one thing he did that I liked which surprisingly does not seem common in rental leases was to require me to purchase and maintain renter’s insurance. Not because he gave a shit about my stuff being stolen or lost in a fire (which renter’s insurance covers) but because it’s a source of coverage in the event of damage caused to the place by the renter. It was only like $15 a month so hardly a big deal.
Every apartment I’ve ever lived in requires renters insurance. It’s so cheap that I’d argue it’s a good idea to have regardless of whether required by the building. So many things are out of your control (floods, fire, weather damage, etc) and it’s good to know that with the insurance you’d at least he able to get new stuff to maintain a similar living situation.
My first landlord gave me a plank to hold the door shut so he didn’t have to repair the lock and another plank to put over the hole in the bathroom floor that you could fall through to the foundations.
‘Safe’ living.
Sounds like a resourceful person
i genuinely hope that you’re just really good at the bit, my dude
I am
This is shitposts, not shit takes.
Thank you
Safe living? HA
That image just measurably raised my blood pressure.
Landlords should really rebrand to something like building consurvitours.
“Land owners”
No more or less is needed.
Conservators
is stupid and wrong.

My old landlord was a Vietnamese family who built an apartment complex for a family business instead of running a restaurant. I respected them, they kept the place in running order.
I feel like “landlord” is an easy group to hate, but some renters are absolutely filthy gross and I have seen what landlords sometimes deal with. No room for nuance here, of course, but how you do things matters a lot.
Selflessness?
Correct
