Honestly the convenience steam offers in having all my games in one spot, able to run with no real effort on my part is why I use it. If GOG offers a similar reliability, I’ll quickly be using them a lot more
Are there really gamers complaining that they want more launchers? o_O
It would be nice to have, but really I don’t need it that badly.
I would honestly prefer buying from GOG instead of steam if they had a Linux client.
In theory I could just copy the game files from wi*dows, since they advertize not having a DRM, and play using wine or proton, but steam is just more convinient.
And I have a family on steam, so my friends can play the game as well (this was the deciding point in my last game purchase, otherwise I would use GOG)
Heroic is your GOG client. There will also be a Playnite port with a GOG plugin in the near future.
Haven’t heard of that one yet. I’ll be trying it out for sure, thanks!
I have a handful of games on Lutris, but it’s definitely not convenient enough for normal people
I agree, steam with proton is the closest.
But I’m definitely not normal.
This is great news. For people not familiar or comfortable with Linux, this makes it possible for them to switch and use their GOG library. And this also encourages buying games you actually own. So this is a big step in the right direction. I love it.
GOG previously said they planned to Linux closer at Linux,
+1
GOG Galaxy on Linux.

You’re a store, stop trying to be more than that.
