As our editorialist rightly reminded us yesterday Monday, the 2026-2030 Recovery Plan aims to build a strong and prosperous economy for the benefit of each and every one of us and based on our own resources. This therefore presupposes a new political economy, with the appropriation by the State of a large part of the means of production, which must be understood as an appropriation by the Nation rather than by a particular class, so that the investment effort made by public enterprises is the manifestation of a national policy of development in independence.

A state capitalism in its structures and nationalist in its logic, with a dirigiste system where all or part of the means of production are legally the property of the state or controlled by public bodies. An intermediate phase to achieve the socialist society to which we all aspire. While it is indeed necessary to awaken the majority of the population to the need for a socialist revolution (through principled options and a programmatic platform), it is not necessary to overlook the need to take urgent and indispensable revolutionary measures to combat economic disorganization.

In addition to the nationalization of the land that has already been effective, the control of the financial and banking system is necessary for the implementation of the programmatic platform of the Revolution. These measures, which constitute the first steps towards socialism, are perfectly feasible from the economic point of view. We must therefore restore the state to its full centrality at the current stage of our socio-economic process. This, finally, as Engels said, so that “antagonisms, classes with opposing economic interests, do not consume themselves and society in a sterile struggle.” Hence the above-mentioned need for a power which, “placed apparently above society, must blur the conflict, keep it within the limits of order”.

Here is expressed the fundamental idea of revolutionaries about the historical role and significance of the state. It is therefore on this principled and programmatic approach that the comrade-President of Faso, Ibrahim Traoré, launched the process of political, economic and social refoundation of the country which will lead to a qualitative leap in all areas and condemn the counter-revolution to escheat. Hence the renewed activity of counter-revolutionaries and revisionists who want to “explode” the revolution with rumors, disinformation and misinformation to bring back the old order.

In the face of this propaganda campaign, the necessity arises to attach politics to a vanguard organ in which those who possess firm principles and a proper plan are the supreme regulators of the struggle of the organ to which they dictate the execution of their plan. Vigilance is all the more necessary as many Burkinabè are inexperienced in revolution. This is not “autocratism” but rather a work of consciousness-raising to bring down the worn-out theories about “broad democratism” that the People’s Progressive Revolution (RPP) cannot live with.

Already, the results of the RPP’s experience are before our eyes and prove to satiety that it has understood its duty at this stage of our socio-political and economic march. The sovereign people therefore continue their resolute march towards progress and hope for all.
