Donald Trump has launched another attack on Keir Starmer as it emerged the UK will not be involved in his plan to blockade the Strait of Hormuz.
The US president announced on Sunday that America and “other countries” will stop ships coming in and out of the vital waterway.
Around one-fifth of the world’s oil and liquid gas supply usually passes through the key shipping lane.
But it has been effectively closed since the start of the war, with Iran targeting tankers which try to sail through it unless they agree to pay a toll.
The Donvict again demonstrating he is unqualified and lacks the understanding to get along with allies.
Bully in yard doesn’t understand why other guys won’t join him in bullying others. Trumpepstein is stuck in a junior high mentality and won’t mature to he an effective member of society. Criminals gonna war crime.
So, we’re pirates. Cool coolcool
Dude. I never heard of a pirate who denied entire countries their right to democracy, installed puppet dictatorships, or murdered millions of peasants…
Piracy wouldn’t even crack the top 100 in Americas worst crimes since WW2.
We do things bigger! The many terrible things that we’ve perpetrated are unfortunately not unique among the cadre of world superpowers; the same way that rich people are “eccentric” instead of “crazy”, we’ve gotten passes on our worst transgressions because a) other world leaders are also bad, and b) there was a veneer of justification.
What makes the recent(ish) shift stand out is tone. This entire Iran excursion isn’t the worst thing we’ve done by far, but it’s displaying weakness in how blatantly base and stupid and venal it is. Tongue-in-cheek, it’s Gauche - when we’ve aspired to expect a more refined dystopia.
Trump doesn’t respect anyone who has humiliated himself to him, like they’re not even people to him. He admires strongmen and grudgingly accepts the agency of people who have held their own (eg Carney).
Starmer is a non entity to Trump.
And he doesn’t know the difference between a strong man and a strongman.
Why would they need to? Doesn’t America have the most powerful Navy in the world? Hasn’t Trump been saying that we don’t need allies?
In a post on Truth Social, Trump said: “The Blockade will begin shortly. Other Countries will be involved with this Blockade.
Well yeah…
Someone has to send the ships there for Trump to threaten to blow up.
Iran doesn’t ship their own oil, people go there to buy it.
Wait, so let me get this strait (p.i.): first he wanted help keeping the strait open and now he wants help closing it? Does he even know what he wants?
The same thing his voters wanted…
To “Win”.
“hits out at”
I have never seen this phrase before.
Good on Starmer.
He said that we wouldn’t join in the attack on Iran and then allowed uk bases for the us to launch attacks.
He said that Chagos islands world be given back, Trump complained and now they’re not.
Trump can say what he wants against Starmer and he’ll think that makes him look good, but then he caves every time
Starmer reiterated that Britain was not involved in the joint U.S.-Israel air strikes on Iran that killed the country’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on Saturday, adding that Britain would not join further waves of strikes.
But he said Iran had retaliated by launching sustained attacks across the region and its missiles had hit airports and hotels where British citizens were staying.
I feel Starmer was damned domestically if he didn’t, and damned as he did.
And good for Starmer.
He’s not popular domestically. But every time Trump publicly criticizes him it’s like a shot in the arm for his popularity.
everybody remember… tomorrow is Tuesday… TACO day in the cafeteria
Doubling down on stupid doesn’t make it more likely that others will follow, not even America’s poodle.
Every time Starmer says no to Trump and Trump has a paddy back a backbench MP puts their letter nominating his successor back in the draw.
Ask yourself, Donny, “Why would they?”
Very rude of Starmer to not place the UK’s face in the middle of Donald’s fist.
