If you get stuck in a loop of automated messages (likely) that’s going to flow a massive flag up at the company, and someone is going to look at it why it’s happening.

Windows had started only “certifying” machines with 32gb as “windows ready” because they wanted the headroom to cram on AI features and use what we pay for instead of a data center.
But because no one was buying 32gb machines and a machine without that sticker will end up with Linux…
They just dropped it, and now they’ll have to keep optimizing for 16gb instead of just letting everything bloat. If they don’t, they risk every entry level machine making people eventually switch to Linux for a much better experience. Windows has to run on entry level or people don’t get sucked in, no one converts to windows later in life.
That’s a huge deal, if 32gb was the default for windows it would be the default for everything. Every game and design/modeling program would feel safe to assume 32gb was the norm. Like, imagine what chrome would do assuming there’s 32gb to play with.
Now they can’t, and they’ll know requiring 32gb will cut off some possible consumers.
It’s not like Windows is the good guys tho, it never should have been 32, and arguably should be 8gb forever, even if it required a lightweight mode. Most people would prefer a super stripped down Windows even with 64gb. Most of the bloat is useless, I could live without any updates after we didn’t have to quit to DOS to launch a game.
None of the chips built for datacentres are useful for gaming. None of the RAM in these chips is useful for normal computing - even servers - much less home gaming.

Nah, we’ll stall on this generation. Even if a new one is released, very few will pay the extra when games would alreadyhave to start becoming RAM optimized again. Even Windows just dropped their 32GB recommendation.
Without the recommendation being met, people weren’t buying windows PCs, so lower the requirement and people will buy more computers and more copies of windows. Which means they always could have just optimized better if they felt pressure.
Games will 100% do the same.

The big hurdle to domestic production is you’ll spend billions and by the time it’s built it’s “last gen”.
Instead of useless data centers, we could be building up domestic chip production, confident it will still produce top of the line chips when it goes live.
A literal golden opportunity, more so if China goes after Taiwan finally, you’d be the only international supplier.

I highly doubt there are countries where just every door is like this. It’s substantial extra cost to have both sides take a key instead of one side having just a knob.
For safety you can keep a key nearby out of reach from the window.
Honestly tho, the windows in doors might as well be “door” compared to how easy it is to break a normal window or even just force one without breaking the pane. And that’s not even getting into how easy it is to learn to pick locks.
99.99% of security is just being harder to break into than the house next door. Like people talk about “not needing to lock the doors at night” like people are just going door to door and if it’s locked they give up. And sure, the Night Stalker or someone did do that, but the vast majority of the time it doesn’t, and if someone checks if a door is unlocked, it’s because they’re committed to getting in and are going to look for other ways.
People have a weird illusion of safety where they think the door is the only way into a home, so they put effort into making that as secure as possible, and just ignore everything else.

It’s the evolution of T9 predictive text. When it sees a sequence of letters and spaces forming words it does not have a concept of what it means. Its just trained after billions of prompts and most of human knowledge scanned into it, what string of letters and spaces might be an acceptable response.
It doesn’t know if it’s actually correct, at most it can calculate the chances the prompter will accept it.
The dream was that eventually it would get “trained” enough to always give correct information when prompted, because the critical flaw was thinking the people who ask chatbots questions, wanted accurate answers. If that was true, there was a slim chance this would eventually (on a super long timeline) work.
The issue is most people don’t want correct answers, they want to be told they’re in the right.
So say a married couple use the same chatbot therapist. Even if one person is the clear problem, the chatbot is going to tell each person that they are putting the work in and their partner must be the problem.
Because that is what everyone using a chatbot as a therapist wants to hear.
And if the chatbot keeps trying to tell someone they’re wrong, that person just stops using the chatbot, which is the worst thing imaginable to the people who control how the chatbot responds.
And their only priority is people not just continuing to use chatbots, but to rely on it more and more until the person can no longer function without it
Like, I really think the only reason people aren’t full on burning data centers down already, is people need to understand how the human brain works to understand how dangerous this all really is. But like 99.99999% of Americans never learned more about human psychology than what the football coach “taught” them in highschool for a semester.
Every famous example of a normal person becoming wealthy and turning into an asshole; is because of the absence of negative feedback, and we’re going to see the same thing happen to chatbot addicts, we already are. And the deeper they get with the chatbot, the less they like interacting with humans, and the more they interact with humans.
It’s a feedbackloop that people wont realize until it’s bad enough they need legitimate addiction treatment to fix. If someone doesn’t do something, this is going to be a giant societal issues in just a few more years. Especially when addicted people start asking the chatbots what they can do to make sure the government doesn’t take their chatbot away.
It will literally put nothing above retaining users. So who the fuck knows what it will start telling people to do

The reason it’s important enough for some people to bring up, is that because of the way the human brain works, talking about a problem can release dopamine like actually doing something productive. So people can fall into the trap where all they ever do is “raise awareness”
And not only can that mean they don’t accomplish anything productive, their “awareness raising” gives other that dopamine and they also no longer feel a drive to do something productive about it, because they already got their dopamine.
