What is interesting is that these policies often meet resistance at first. People respond as if something is being taken away from them: freedom of movement, or the freedom to use their car. Yet once the measures are implemented and people become accustomed to their new, more pleasant surroundings, the benefits become clear. There is no real loss, only gain. There is less need to travel, and more freedom to choose how to travel for short trips. Even for those who genuinely depend on a car, conditions improve when the bulk of unnecessary car journeys disappears.
By the way, if you still have space, it is not an excuse to not rethink the role of cars in our cities

Conservative thought is inherently stupid. Thoughtless. It just wants what is, without considering if the change is good or bad.
