Can you filter keywords to block very specific things you don’t want to see? If a post matches those words you can make it so that post won’t show up at all.

Issue is of false triggers, you won’t be able to see what got missed. Examples: mastodon would filter out someone’s post about someone being a dick to the cashier at the grocery store if the keyword is ‘dick’, and plenty of false triggers for ‘fuck’. So filter out words like ‘penis’ and ‘sex’ instead.

Depending on how the html is structured, you might be able to use adblock or tamper monkey to filter it out (in a browser. Apps are less supportive of this)

I guess you could make a feature request in the mastodon project page. Or, on mobile, try a different app, each app implements a different set of features.

That’s like my mother asking in the 1970’s…“Does anyone know how we can stop random strangers from throwing away their dirty magazines in the woods?”. Some kid somewhere is eventually going to come across that. Better to teach them what that NSFW stuff is and what it’s value is. That’s just a comparison though. In tech the most foolproof way would be some sort of optical recognition software that has a basis of comparison to determine if an image is NSFW or not. Flagging an image would be even simpler but not everything would be flagged.

Nah, it’s not. Because Mastodon is just one segment of the internet rather than “the whole forest” so we can in fact implement nsfw filters or similar.
