A tape-based piece of unique Unix history may have been lying quietly in storage at the University of Utah for 50+ years. The question is whether researchers will be able to take this piece of middle-aged media and rewind it back to the 1970s to get the data off.

Fingers crossed we can find a few more episodes of Doctor Who as well. The cache of tapes found a few years ago at a TV station were a wonderful find.
Basically, 40% of the episodes of the first six
yearsseasons of Doctor Who (1967-731963-69, First and Second Doctors) and a few more until 1978 only survive as audio clips and still frames. Finding actual footage would be great to fill these gaps in the serials (Doctor Who stories come in groups of episodes).Edits: Doctor Who started at 1963, not 1967. Also spelling and an extra line.
god i want to see marco polo so bad
M … make it run Doom.
I think so, if DOOM even works in a PDF file
https://doompdf.pages.dev/doom.pdf
And even on a pregnancy test stick
Yeah, running Doom on stuff is a meme, that’s why I posed the challenge … but a lot of the time it’s just not real.
Sometimes the device is used just as an external screen for some regular device. Other times not even the screen is kept.
(Love it when they manage to hack-run in on actual odd hardware tho!)Like the pregnancy test - if you replace everything from it except the plastic shell then it’s just this:

Yeah, but a PDF file is another thing. Anyway old DOOM works on a shoebox if you want and for sure also in the old UNIX.
