The sad part is… I’m living picture 1 right now, with the Microsoft outsourcing my team to be lead from india and reducing manpower from 12 to five and thinking the service will be as good as before… first they wanted the bakers do the work of a pastry chefs and the pastry chefs do the work of the bakers. Now they want the bakers and the pastry chefs to do the butchers job too.
The pizzacake haters are proving this place is similar to reddit.
I don’t even get it, it’s not an offensive comic, the artist has a good sense of topical humor, nothing about it is edgy by today’s standards.
I feel like it’s the exact same thing that happened with figures like Greta Thunberg, where some chud got ahead of it by doing some “cringe reaction” bullshit and since then it’s all people associate with the content because people broadly are easily swayed even by people they wouldn’t normally agree with.
No, really, everyone needs to understand this: your opinions are not your own, the more you think they are, the more likely you’ve been influenced by someone, somewhere. Whenever you see a lot of people hating on something for no real reason, it’s just mindless herd mentality.
I’m sure someone is now going to type up a reply explaining exactly why they hate it… after just now thinking about it for the first time.
I mean, I looked at the drama and she was overzealous, that’s about it. That’s not the worst artist.
Oh yeah I’m being educated already about her eeeeeevil misdeeds from others here, and I also know that very artist online has had some drama about permission or IP and if that’s why they’re attacking someone who is ostensibly posting material that is broadly helpful to progressive ideology, then maybe these folks just need to get out of their echo-chambers and bubble worlds and have actual debates with actual bad people.
I rarely even come across them.
Lord forbid there is comics in the comics community.
More like PCC’s rabid fans are making this like reddit. It was reddit where she threatened to sue over parodies of her comics… I don’t think we need toxic shit like PCC over here at lemmy
I think the establishment is actually quite sensitive to unemployment figures because people that are unemployed have time to demonstrate.
Sounds like a nice time for prison populations to increase and get back that labor for cheap.
Almost felt like they were gonna pull that one with the No Kings protests
Panama is on strike now for factory shutdowns
I think the people who actually want to work might be in the minority?
I guess most people want to contribute to society, or earn money, or both.
Don’t just stalk the ML subs, post their memes too. Great stuff.
Great example of why we shouldn’t just blindly absorb memes. I’m not arguing on the side of the cartoon businessman here, but if the memesmith is talking about the US they’re just plain wrong - unemployment is NOT “sky high” or even regular high. It’s a little above the 50-year low we had a couple years ago, but it’s below historical average. But if you don’t already know that and can’t be bothered to look it up, you’re being led around by the nose. Brawndo is Brawndo, no matter who serves it up or why. Now go ahead and douchevote this like a good little trooper!
And no, I’m not trying to make everything be about America. It’s somewhat implied by the red, white & blue and let’s face it, most posts here are already about America.
Or, and hear me out, she might just be pointing out how the behavior in the first two panels eventually unquestionably leads to the second and third.
Also, while unemployment maybe ‘low’ (and given how those numbers are often drawn from who’s pulling unemployment benefits, and at least in America they kick you off those after a little bit, I also wonder about those statistics, but I digress…) many people who are employed are severely underemployed, which is just as bad in the long run.
Granted, but if the stats are being skewed to make the economy look good, so would stats from other years because the government always wants everything to look good. Same goes for people being underemployed - I’ve been hearing that since at least the 90s. The truth is that unemployment right now are not historically high - everybody just wants to feel like their experience is unprecedentedly horrible. It’s really not. And again, this isn’t taking the side of greedy billionaires, it’s just the truth. We should all be on the side of truth - even if it contradicts a meme.
Where would we be without Pizzacake to state the blindingly obvious?
I guess i just don’t get criticisms like this. They have been rerunning family circle for 50 years and Garfield as it turns out is better without Garfield, but this kind of banality is just too far?
Daily comics are mostly garbage with the occasional, possibly even accidental, brilliance.
Because they don’t want to admit they don’t hate the subject matter, they hate the artist
Although she has done her fair share to take away community good will
“Fair share” is an understatement when they threaten with legal action over parodies. Her fanbase is as toxic as can be
Even Garfield took bigger risks than she does bud.
