This is a good thing! I am always against any oppression any government does in the world whether it is Iran or the USA but I want a way for people to work together independent of political issues their governments face.

Thanks for the update, I take Microsoft PR with a modicum of caution, but this seems like a good thing for developers and software users at large.

It’s such a bummer GH sold to MSFT—there are so many good people associated with it and this kind of propaganda from ICEman Microsoft Github CEO Nat Friedman gives me the warm fuzzies:

All developers should be free to use GitHub, no matter where they live.

Over the course of two years, we were able to demonstrate how developer use of GitHub advances human progress, international communication, and the enduring US foreign policy of promoting free speech and the free flow of information.

we went to great lengths to keep as much of GitHub available to as many developers as possible under US sanctions laws, making public repos available even in sanctioned countries.
