    Just Lula doing Lula things. He’a like your kind uncle whose heart’s in the right place but sometimes goes a bit far.

    I agree with this part:

    “What’s happening in the Gaza Strip isn’t a war, it’s a genocide,” Lula told reporters in Addis Ababa where he was attending an African Union summit on Sunday.

    “It’s not a war of soldiers against soldiers. It’s a war between a highly prepared army and women and children,” added the Brazilian president.

    But then record scratch, like Lula do you not even history:

    “What’s happening in the Gaza Strip with the Palestinian people hasn’t happened at any other moment in history. Actually, it has happened: when Hitler decided to kill the Jews.”

      Not cool, a lot of Ashkenazi Jews aren’t Zionists and not live in Israel.

      Name itself is coming from legendary figure of Ashkenaz, grandson of Japhet who as the direct descendant of Noah symbolise Germany. Germany was called Eretz Ashkenaz in Yiddish since medieval, and so Ashkenazi Jews = Jews in Germany, from where they spread to nearly entire west, north and east Europe when they were running away from pogroms.

    Israel is definitely committing acts of genocide, but holocaust comparisons are hyperbole; they haven’t been rounding up Palestinians by the thousands and putting them in gas chambers. Even the most evil acts imaginable still fall on a spectrum.

        @S_204 there’s two issues here.

        Auschwitz and the Shoah was not the only genocide, you don’t even need camps to carry out a genocide.

        What Israel is doing is definitely a genocide but whether or not other genocides should be compared to the Holocaust is a separate issue.
