And with that it became irrelevant.
I wonder how much Microsoft is paying them ? And I don’t mean just giving licenses for free, but that plus extra cash.
There are precedents for this kind of stuff, like MS did when the so called “Netbooks” running Linux were all the rage and Intel giving CPUs plus cash to cell makers are two examples that I remember.
I wonder how much Microsoft is paying them ?
I don’t think there’s need for conspiracy theory: these people simply don’t have the knowledge to manage a distribution, even when sticking to a well set distro standard (such as Debian or Ubuntu). Here’s what did happen:
1st problem on Linux: “damn, Linux doesn’t work”
switching on Windows because they think this solve their issues
45633th problem on Windows: “damn… what we are doing wrong?”
I can’t wrap my head around how any of these deck alternatives would be anything but a pain to use without additional inputs like the track pads to give at least some kb/m capability, especially in anything other than steam game mode/big picture.
If I was making a deck alt though, it would have a mini trackball because the deck pads are sorcery that I don’t understand, and maybe some sort of physical keyboard like blackberry or those Xbox controller kb dongles. Maybe a flip out or optional accessory second monitor that easily stays attached for ds and wiiu emulation, but for marketing purposes guides, productivity, and dev. At least 90hz OLED for 45/90 and other hardware specced to do at least 35 stable at 1200p on modern games with at least some optimization. Dual full size nvme with one populated by default. Definitely more independent buttons than just standard console layout too. Outer shell cad available for modders and alt official plate with more enthusiast level cooling options. Then I would try to partner with bazzite maintainers or something to have an official default os that doesn’t suck and rely on me still being alive.
