Clinton inherited the massive debt run up by Reagan and Bush I, and in just six years not only eliminated the deficit but also started producing a fucking surplus. If that sort of financial responsibility had been continued instead of being thrown in the trash by Bush II and Dick “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter” Cheney, we would have eliminated the national debt years ago.
