I strongly believe some countries feel the need to support Israel through their worst decisions simply because they (Israel) have nukes. It would most likely be preferable to have a friendly nuclear power rather than an unfriendly rogue one, even if they’re frequently uncooperative.

Usually if you’re learning Arabic for religious reasons, it’s going to be Modern Standard Arabic or MSA.

It’s a little bit different in Korea. You notice it even more if you watch newer K-dramas. They’ve (mistakenly? Unintentionally?) started calling what you’d normally consider a latte an americano. It’s become extremely trendy at cafes to offer americanos that are definitely not just espresso and water.

I have a tinfoil hat conspiracy theory that the Love is Blind/Married at First Sight shows are part of this. You’ve got a not so subtle focus on religion and marriage, a blind eye towards sexual assault, and Vanessa Lachey pestering past participants if they’re popping out a progeny anytime soon.

TIL that’s also the guy on the “hot fries” bag in the grocery store.
