Matrix/Element is p good these days

Obviously it wasn’t perfect; it had flaws. There are scenes I would have edited differently, some parts were murky, and some lines wholly redundant. But despite the flaws, it felt fresh. It didn’t feel like Hollywood. Felt like a passion project.
I would like to see more movies with this level of scope.

OK but if it does turn out to be exactly $999 it’s going to be slightly more impressive foresight.

I assume if they just tweak things by hand slightly then it becomes a protected derivative work. For example, if I modify Shakespeare, my modifications are protected.

It could be. But if it was a mistake, what are they going to say? That it was intentional? Companies have a lot of people and management often doesn’t always get a clear idea of who did what and how.

Thanks! Non-instagram info here.

I don’t get why modders shouldn’t be allowed to ask for money. Do players just want people to work for free? Why should the game developers get to set the rules when mods often contain no content/IP from the game devs?

Does anyone know if there will be a protest outside their offices? Seems like something we can do as Canadians to help.

Yes obviously it would be terrible if the U.S. took over Greenland. Though I don’t think Denmark having “the right” to colonise is what the people who said that were intending to convey.

OK but that’s not how people generally use “better” or “worse.” I think transitivity – and reflexivity – are generally respected by people’s usage of the terms.

can you please explain how that relates to the argument? For sure I think consent is important, but I don’t see how it relates to the headline.

This is a rather poor argument against the U.S. takeover of Greenland. If neither Denmark nor the U.S. is better, then it makes no difference if the U.S. takes over.
Edit: not sure why I’m being downvoted. I would appreciate someone explaining the headline to me because I honestly don’t get it.

It was not a wise response.

Why would there be? I don’t get it.

Well I don’t claim that there can’t be a better way to make predictions. I’m only claiming that if there exists a better way, it’s not widely available.
But hey, I invite to you to put your money where you mouth is. If you can do better than Polymarket, why don’t you go ahead and make some money off it?

I understand that it’s a general purpose machine for producing images given prompt/context. I don’t feel particularly outraged. I just know that, say, openAI has quite a lot of safeguards to prevent generating CSAM. Safeguards may not be perfect but… seems like grok doesn’t have good enough safeguards?

If you think probability can’t change over time you need to learn about Bayesianism.
Manifold predicts generally better than Polymarket, but Polymarket is still quite accurate, accurate enough that I doubt I could do better myself, and doubt most people could do better.
Obviously an efficient prediction market should have accurate predictors make money off of less accurate predictors. Not sure what you mean by that.
I feel like Matrix already hit the “elbow point” where it’s getting good fast. It’s very usable, I have ~10 contacts I regularly communicate with on Matrix.
