Lemmy Shitpost@lemmy.world•I baked eye ball cookies for Halloween
5·6 months agoI baked mushroom cookies once, specifically stinkhorn-looking cookies. No idea why I thought of that just now.

21·6 months agoDo you have any screenshots? And is it the retail version or is it some early version? Retail’s supposed to only come out in October.
Tropical fruit flavor! That’s a pharmacist’s pineapple pizza.

1·7 months agoI mean, Sam Altman was literally throwing movie nights at OpenAI HQ with the movie “Her”. So either he didn’t get it or his copy conveniently ends at halftime.

231·7 months agoRight. If I had dumped all my money into AI stonks and was overall deeply invested into silicon valley I’d sell the doomer story, too. Keeps the bubble alive.
Meanwhile the REAL threat of the AI hype, i.e. overburdening ecosystems with ridiculously hungry data centers and putting children’s sanity in the hands of a hallucinating sycophantic autofill can be entirely ignored because “AGI BAD SO WE MUST BUILD AGI”.

51·7 months agoProbably not a flash drive but you can get decent mileage out of 7b models that run on any old laptop for tasks like text generation, shortening or summarizing.

1·7 months agoResponse Type is decided by ChatGPTs new routing function based on your input. So yeah. Asking it to “think long and hard”, which I have seen people advocating for to get better results recently, will trigger the thinking model and waste more resources.

Europa / Europe and the EU + EEA@lemmy.world•Mandatory age verification online in the EU - Amendment 186
2·7 months agoThis happened in June and still needs to pass the EC with a qualified majority according to OLP, so the members states’ relevant ministers will debate this.
Here are all the details on the procedure so far, including all lobbyists that were heard regarding the matter. Big names included. Maybe interesting to some of you who want to rethink their Christmas donations…

Technology@lemmy.world•Spotify fans threaten to return to piracy as music streamer introduces new face-scanning age checks in the UKEnglish
56·7 months agoDon’t threaten, just do it. Enshittification must end.
The only reason we have mainstream paid video streaming now is because early Netflix was genuinely better than dodgy, pop-up riddled mirrors on movie4k.to. The convenience was well worth 8 bucks a month. Same for Spotify.
Fast forward 10 years and Spotify wants me to pay 15 €, scan my face and listen to forced podcast ads AND pay extra for paywalled audiobooks that used to be free? Meet my good old friend youtube-downloader, then.

1·9 months agoSo what’s the agreed-upon purpose of up- and down votes on Lemmy? Because I feel like the news of this clusterfuck of a bad business decision is technews-worthy and doesn’t deserve the downvotes.

Lol imagine a dns directory run by an LLM. “I couldn’t find catvideos.com but don’t worry, you got this! Why don’t you visit bestiality.com instead?”
