1·2 days agoApartheid and genocide are two of many litmus tests and, given the context of the post being about apartheid and genocide in Palestine, Mark is failing it badly

I’d rather build my own browser from scratch. What fucking world do we live in?
Actually, I’d rather never browse the internet again.

Canada@lemmy.ca•Carney pushes step towards his ‘Zionist Palestinian state’ - Yves Engler
71·2 days agoYeah, he gave an interview basically blaming the Palestinians and saying that they should just agree to live under a Zionist state. The dumbass literally told an oppressed people to live under apartheid and be happy about it.

6·3 days agoColonizers always destroy the ecological attachment that indigenous people have to their lands. Not only that, it’s a source of healthy food and revenue for Palestinians.
Israel also has laws preventing the harvesting of native plants that are a cultural and vital food source for Palestinians that live in rural areas.

3·3 days agoBen Gvir had a big part in stoking hatred and inflammatory language that led to the killing of Yitzhak Rabin
Rabin was killed while getting into his car in 1995, by a Jewish extremist at a rally in Tel Aviv - retaliation for signing a peace agreement two years earlier with Yasser Arafat, the chairman of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.
Ben-Gvir, Netanyahu and other rightwing figures who stood against the peace agreement organised a rally in Jerusalem’s Zion Square a month before Rabin’s killing, during which protesters shouted “Death to Rabin”.
A photo of Ben-Gvir carrying an emblem from Rabin’s car was republished recently. Ben-Gvir reportedly said, “We got to his car, and we’ll get to him too.”

132·3 days agoAnd just in another thread, when someone said that the Israelis are more sadistic than the Nazis, people got real angry and wanted to start comparing body counts.
There’s a difference between sending groups of people to extermination camps and and entire people taking joy in inflicting pain - that’s sadism. And Israelis (as a military force and an entire society) are 100x more sadistic than Nazi Germany was.

372·4 days agoThis article is so stupid with the dumbest fearmongering clickbait title -
Anything that calls home will try to call home. Connection or not. You put an LG tv (edit: just found out that when LG and TV are put together without a space, it gets censored?) in a faraday cage and it will try to phone home. There’s no reason it would suddenly stop doing that because there’s no point to adding another line of code to get it to stop when it doesn’t need to.
Not to mention that the important part is this:
The critical caveat: the traffic was encrypted. Researchers could document destinations and data volumes, but not the content of the packets themselves. No evidence of specific personal data exfiltration was found, and the tests do not prove that NIO is transmitting sensitive information to Chinese authorities.
Now compare that to a plethora of other car manufacturers that don’t even bother to encrypt your data and explicitly say that you will be tracked by them and have your data sold.

1·9 days agoFYI - The algorithm is literally a profile built around you as a person, not the account itself. The account actually gets added to your profile.
So if your family shares an Amazon account, Amazon knows who each person is that accesses the account based on a whole load of other fingerprinting (device, location, metadata, etc). Then THAT data is shared with data brokers for the individual’s algorithm across the internet.

Yeah, Dynacare won the contracts when there was a conservative government in Manitoba between 2016 - 2023. Dynacare had a monopoly on lab results as of 2017.
While I’m 2025 Manitoba increased Dynacare’s funding and subsidies with the intention that their employees would get paid better, dynacare pocketed the money (shocker).
It’ll now be twice as expensive to move it back to publicly managed, but I’m hoping that Wab puts in the groundwork for that.
