  • I don’t really want the gesture colors to reflect vote colors regardless of what I set it too. It’s just that with vote colors you have an option to swap colors for them and I’m requesting the ability to swap colors of gesture colors for voting as well.

Your suggestion would be much more flexible/powerful and comfortable to use though as it’s hard to get the wanted color correctly and repeat it as well. But what comes with it I assume there’s more work for it?

    I hope I’m clear now. :)

(Yesterday I converted someone into using this app and they love it a lot. Today I changed the text size for posts by accident when looking through the settings for something and it applied on the spot. I think it would be great to apply settings only when pressing “save settings” button or a way to revert settings to the previous ones you had maybe. The button sounds simpler. I was lucky to have a backup from sharing the settings with that person though.)

  • It’s more about users not giving a damn which can already be seen with users using ‘all’ feed downvoting or responding with unfitting comments to things that they should have just ignored but didn’t because it showed up to them.

If the user visits feed expecting specific content just like they’d expect from community and treat it as such there’s a good chance they’d contribute but not in positive way.

The feature is in a testing phase to find bugs and collect ideas and will be improved with time so such problems would hopefully be minimised. In which direction will the feature progress is something I don’t know and from my understanding the devs don’t fully know either but they’re definitely interested in allowing more control over things like community opting out (or in?) from a specific feeds as a second option besides opting out from the feature completely. In what form the mods will have the tools to control to which feeds their communities belong I don’t know but there’s a lot of interest in it.

  • c/all is worse imo and with feeds you will at least have control over picking topics you’re interested in unlike c/all. We should be focusing on opting out from c/all more as it causes far more damage and it’s been that way for a long time unlike feeds on such a small platform that just got the feature implemented.

Also the opt-in would be a great way to KILL the entire feature that’s been the most hyped up and requested feature across the entire threadiverse. BRUH

Imagine having all communities opted out from c/all by default. That would be stupid and make everything hard to access.

Opt-out on the other hand for public feeds specifically is something that I support. But then good luck having that supported on lemmy where almost all communities exist.

E: c/all is just one monolithic feed forced on all users for better perspective about the issue. With custom feeds much like with communities you pick out your interests and follow them specifically and it’s all optional. I don’t see how it could cause more damage than this.

  • A setting to reverse gesture colors for votes? You can do that with displayed vote colors already but not for gestures. I couldn’t quite get the gesture colors right so I left them at default and I have opposite colors for gestures and votes. It’s not bothersome though and I got used to it quickly. Just thought it would be a good QoL feature to have the colors consistent.

I’m not sure if you prefer to take feature requests/suggestions over lemmy or github. What’s your preference?

  • To quit and save I need to tap on the screen edge to the left or right of the input field for the community name. When I do that it just closes the creation window with no notification or anything so the feedback and letting users know how to continue could be better. To figure out how to create a feed I had to spam click on every part of the screen for some while until I figured out how to quit while saving. But it took a while to realise that quitting in this way was saving the feed too because I needed to stumble upon the section where the feeds are shown because they aren’t on the sidebar but in their own page. After finding out a bunch of created sections and some additional experimenting I figured out how this works. As for when I go back using phone’s navigation it warns me the unsaved changes will be lost so it’s ok in that regard. I don’t think I remember seeing any X button? Overall now that I know how this works everything’s fine but it was really confusing to figure it out as a new user. Also huge thanks for the app, there’s so much cool advanced functionality that I would never expect from an app. History? Searching for words in a thread? Filtering by post type? So cool! And regarding the post type, is it possible to set it up for each feed separately or is it a global app setting? For example to create a feed of only images and a feed of only text posts. I’m still figuring the app out and idk what’s possible yet. Thanks for the app again! <3

Edit: The feeds show on the sidebar. In that case I must have misremembered that part somehow. Maybe I checked it a few times before I created those few feeds when troubleshooting.
