Narrative driven, story rich games don’t sell?

How many video game franchises are making the leap to tv/movies these days? Hint, it’s the ones with narrative driven, story rich games.

Go ahead and make pay to win mobile games, I don’t play them and they rake in millions so it makes perfect business sense.

But the idea that gamers don’t pay for good narrative driven, story rich games is laughable.

I think the biggest problem with a lot of game franchises have is they only sell the game. So much money is being left on the table with the best efforts being a screengrab lazily printed on a cheap shirt that sells maybe one or two.

If I could get some official, quality, Umbrella/Shinra/Arasaka/Faro corporation mugs, phone covers, meme tier shirts etc I’d be all over it.

People love crapping on the reality of resource economics.

Someone is going to provide the coal.

The real solution would be for Canada to be aggressive in its green energy programs (and start accessing resources other than lumber and oil).

Being a leader in green energy production (not just by having nuclear, hydro etc) but actually producing solar, wind, batteries, etc for export.

Using carbon based energy to create low carbon energy sources is the only way we’re going to successfully transition away from fossil fuels.

The main problem is that we do 1% green and 99% carbon, and that number never really seems to change.

Our carbon tax is not improving public options to ditch fossil fuels, which should be the whole point of a carbon tax (reduced use by increasing price, and using the tax to create low carbon alternatives).

I doubt we’ll ever be serious about a green transition anytime soon.

Can’t wait for prices to go up everywhere else!

“Canadian” mining companies - any country on earth can have a licensed business in Canada for the change you find in your couch. Seems to be especially popular for mining companies.

This one actually used to be a full on Canadian mining company (INCO) before it got bought out by a Brazilian company called Vale limited.

There’s plenty of tax havens already, so Canada went all in on shell corporations for money laundering (especially real estate) and using Canadas positive global image to hide the true owners of a business.

Still a tough line to toe.

South Korea can undoubtedly roll North Korea. But North Korea + China + Ruzzia is much harder to contend with.

NK is benefitting from actively trading with first world economies in a meaningful way and will likely be heavily updating their military and spycraft capabilities.

This will blow back way harder on Israel than America.

Ignoring all politics, logistically this war is a rounding error in the Pentagon’s budget. America can and often does absolutely anything it wants to anyone at any point in time - and the only thing stopping it is how it feels about a subject at any given moment.

Israel is tiny and surrounded by enemies who they are pissing off.

For the record I am entirely opposed to Israel committing genocide and America funding it.

Every 5 days there’s a software update, for something that just changes one or two things slightly - but rarely if ever is it an improvement.

Oh, you want to do this simple thing you were able to easily do 3 days ago?

Now you have to change 4 nondescript settings, use 3 separate hotkey commands, watch a YouTube video, and troubleshoot for hours to get a once basic function to preform correctly.

I’d bet that the AI system will be used exclusively to identify + paywall things you’ll want/need to use your phone.

The gaming community is incapable of executing an effective boycott because they cannot go 5 minutes without the thing they like. So they’ll pre-order garbage, never learn their lesson, and complain the whole time while paying a premium, instead of exercising restraint and playing something else - like one of their 4,000 unplayed games in their bought library.

They’re ensuring their money keeps flowing. This isn’t about altruism - it’s just their Greed incidentally benefits us.

ISPs are trying to mitigate exposure to lawsuits, prevent costly tracking and tracing responsibilities, and make sure customers can keep paying instead of losing their internet privileges (and their internet bills!)

I am pumped to play the Deadspace remake as it’s basically just a massive update and 100% original

But I absolutely love the changes they made to RE4. Kept all the charm and loads of tasteful improvements.

If you’re not doing a 100% updated remake, definitely use the RE4 model of remaking a game
