BioWare reportedly shut down because EA bosses chose to invest in the development of Star Wars: Battlefront 3 over Mass Effect 5.
Then people wonder why nothing new has come to replace the +50 year old franchises. This whole century is an exercise in monetizing nostalgia; it’s what the lengthening of IP protections paved the way for, and it is sort of stagnating popular culture.
To be fair, Mass Effect 5 wasn’t exactly going to be an experimental original thing either.
Dont look to big corporations for new and unique experiences. That’s pretty much the opposite of what they do. They make money off of nostalgia for the most part.

Well, the previous one wasn’t good and we didn’t have any reason to believe that BioWare did their aftermath homework. So “shitty” might be a too strong word, but the overall idea is quite ok.
