I have had my hair cut so many different ways I just show them a picture of my own hair cut how I want.
ETA: if it was such a good haircut it lasted over 6 months I sometimes say “just cut it in half” to get the same thing again.
With my current stylist I also ask her to please just leave it wet, she can cut curly hair all day but cannot style it, will leave looking like a current day Robert Smith.
