    Born in '96.

I heard that a couple of times growing up; then my last math teacher in HS allowed me to write programs for solving problems on my graphing calculator and even use them during tests.

Another '96er here. I had teachers in my last couple years of highschool mention how wrong the saying was. Notably my machine shop teacher said it A LOT my freshman year (9th for non-US) and retired my senior (12th) year while saying “I guess you actually will have calculators in your pockets at all times now”. He wasn’t even behind on tech, calculators just being one of the standard things enmeshed in something as ubiquitous as cellphones would end up, just didn’t occur to him.
