To be clear cars aren’t the problem because its an inanimate object it doesn’t drive itself off the lot. We can’t have safe streets for the same reason we can’t have most of what you mentioned because of drivers.
In the US EV are about 2% of cars and will be the majority around 2000 never due to lobbyists also EV actually create lots of air pollution via their tires even without emissions.
Also most parts of the country just isn’t that walk-able outside urban core. I live in an area of 75k adjacent to a city of 700k… In the smaller burg I decided to walk from POINT A -> POINT B 11 miles for fun to see if I could do it. It was only possible in the dead of night because of how many death traps had neither sidewalk nor even a walkable shoulder like if a car had come at the wrong time I would have had to jump in a ditch full of sticker bushes. There were I think on the order of 14 parts of the walk that were crazy dangerous in 11 miles.
In the larger one there are less but not NO insane spots more side walks but many places that were theoretically traversible but actively very dangerous due to design.
