Better rage bait answer: portals can’t move relative to each other. If they do, the one that is moving ‘pops’ and disappears from the surface. So this scenario is impossible inside the parameters of the game, so it’s not worth thinking about.

I think they experimented and wanted them to be able to move in more places. But with engine limitations they only left it in one scripted place where there are no physics objects that can interact with it.

Honestly the worst decision they could have made while writing. I’m still kinda’ mad about it and I don’t know why.
