Far-right activists in Britain are increasingly adopting the rhetoric of Christian nationalism. Yet while they look to American churches for an example, their evangelical style seems unlikely to map onto Brits’ quite different attitudes toward religion.
Funny, though. I’ve read the Bible several times, but I do not recall any line of Jesus returning with an army to crush humanity. Could you supply book and verse?
And because I know the Bible I disregard the Apocalypse (or Revelation, if you prefer).
That’s why you reveal that you don’t know the Bible, you should read it a few more times because you just don’t get it yet.
Sure… you can choose to reject John and Revelation, even though he was a disciple and the favorite of Jesus. But, then, you must reject a good deal of the gospels. Like John 3:16
That is pretty funny.
I’ll refrain from quoting John the apostle, since you have rejected him, even though he was an apostle and knew Jesus personally. Since you can’t recall, you really should read Revelation and refresh your memory. I would provide book and verse, but you already rejected Revelation and by inference the author of same, right?
Hmm, let’s try Matthew
“Then will appear the sign of the Son of Man in heaven. And then all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of heaven, with power and great glory.” – Matthew 24:30
Do you reject the words of Matthew the apostle, as well as John the apostle? Do you just know he is also wrong?
Why do you think all the peoples of the earth will mourn when they see Jesus coming on the clouds of Heaven with great power and glory? The Bible describes why in great detail, yet you reject it because you know better than John the apostle and Matthew the apostle, right?
You have absolutely no ground to stand on Biblically, your knowledge is from your imagination.
So, keep reading. It will sink in and you’ll figure it out someday.
None of the passages you quotes backs up any of your crazy claims. Anything better to offer?
Yes. Why is all the earth MOURNING when Christ returns? Do you think it’s because they’re sad?
So, you reject John the apostle and Revelation… do you reject the rest of the Gospels too, or just John?
What about the words of Jesus Himself? Now… let’s be clear. All of the Bible is the Word of God, according to the Bible (where you get Jesus from). So every word is true, according to Him, and it’s all His Word (regardless of which apostle wrote any particular book).
Do you listen to the quotes of Jesus Himself, as quoted by the apostles? He describes the eternal torment of Hell, are you familiar? If so, onward…
When He returns, He will “cleanse the Earth”. What do you think that cleansing entails? If the cleansing is not the armies of Heaven as described in Revelation and elsewhere, what matters how it is cleansed? The results are the same. Bloody murder at the hands of Jesus and 10,000 angels.
Lastly, Jesus Himself said (as quoted by the apostles, which you reject some of, but regardless)
"As the weeds are pulled up and burned in the fire, so it will be at the end of the age. The Son of Man will send out his angels, and they will weed out of his kingdom everything that causes sin and all who do evil. They will throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth (Matthew 13:36-41)
So, here, He describes the angels weeding out all that cause sin (like everyone who doesn’t follow Christ, as described repeatedly by Him in Bible) and all who do evil (rejecting Him as Lord… this is an evil that God hates, as described in Bible), and He and His army will throw them in a blazing furnace, etc.
So, do you reject John, the apostle of Jesus who wrote Revelation and parts of the Gospel; do you reject Matthew, the apostle of Jesus who says all will mourn when He returns (because He will kill them); and do you reject Jesus, who describes clearly that He and His Holy Army will throw all of the chaff (not Christians) into the eternal flame (hence the mourning), and take the wheat (Christians) to Heaven (hence the rejoicing)?
Stop lying about the Bible. You like some of the Gospels at most, you’ve never read the entire book even one time. Admit it.
Regardless, you are ignorant of what it contains, you reject Christ’s Word and His teachings; you reject His favorite disciple (John, author of Revelation and other books of the New Testament).
Stop peddling your “peaceful hippy” Jesus, it’s a lie… what you know is a blatant falsehood not supported by scriptures in any way.
Read the Bible after you down vote me; or at least stop pretending you know anything about it. Now, go forth, and SIN NO MORE.
