    Dude… We had an 8-track cartridge you could put cassettes in so you could play them on the 8-track!

      I vaguely remember that being a thing. If I’m not mistaken, it had a smaller playhead inside the loader? Cassette tape was too small for the 8 track play head and would have been chewed up.

    Portable hard drive. These babies were more durable than floppies and could store about 700k on a capacitor array. Iirc, the glovebox would open to show 6" CRT so you could play games on the road, only the cables were so short only the front passengers could play without the $60 extender. The only downside was the aftermarket installers usually installed a separate pair of speakers yould hang from the shades, so the car stereo would sometimes drown out the bgm.
