Idiots watch conservative news. Got it.

I mean, we knew that like 100 years ago but. Polls.

Idiots watch conservative news. Got it.

I mean, I don’t think this says “Idiots Watch conservative news”. Telemundo isn’t particularly conservative. CBS was the most Liberal Broadcaster of the Big 3 (hence Ellison’s need to buy it out).

I do think this shows US Spanish speakers have more trouble getting into college. And that TV News is more popular among the less educated. But consider that The Atlantic is at the top of the list. And that magazine might as well have been authored by the Cheney administration.

You think so? I wouldn’t have agreed, but of course it’s a moot point now. Le sigh.

          You think so?

I don’t think it was an accident that Dan Rather was the target for the Killian Documents scandal.

I wouldn’t have agreed, but of course it’s a moot point now.

It’s a low bar. With ABC controlled by Disney and NBC by Microsoft, it was the last organization that could claim a semblance of independence.

Yeah I thought that was particularly odd because of his refusal to do or say anything to otherwise hurt Gee Dubz during the theft if the election, the obvious corruption, war for nothing, and the destruction of privacy. He was a reliable cog in a giant propaganda machine and they decided to fuck with him.

Kind of reminded me of What’s the frequency Kenneth for no real reason.

Rather was way out in front of all three of these stories.

Now we have to answer the question : are less educated people drawn to right wing news or are conservative news drawn to less educated people ?

Personally i think there are a lot of quite intelligent conservative politicians, so i would hazard to guess that they have identified the easiest blocs of general public to influence and sway the votes they require.

I could reply with a mess of puffery and lavish language or a ton of nuanced arguments and maybe that – if you’re an Atlantic devotee – might persuade you.

But I think the easiest way to get you to understand my opinion is to encourage you to read it – particularly their opinion pieces – and see for yourself.

(Subscribe via RSS because they likely aren’t tracking that and don’t seem to have a clue that you can use it to get most of their articles ad-free without paying.)

Fair enough. I’ve read their articles over the years here and there whenever I happen to come across them, though I don’t recall ever looking at their opinion pieces. Great tip about the RSS backdoor!

I mean, The Atlantic might as well come with “CIA Certified” stamped on the cover. NPR is just a fleshy public-sector skin suit hiding sixteen different corporate lobbyists. The Guardian is JK Rowling Approved, even if it has historically been decent on foreign policy. The NYT is just lying to you, to your face, over and over, forever.

Really bleak to see what the American media stands for now that the mask has fallen all the way off. I’m a little sad that The Economist didn’t make their cut, because it’s the subject of my favorite Lenin quote.

FOX News is the network of, by, and for grumpy old white people.

Plenty of them have degrees. Quite a few even have advanced degrees.

I saw on a post recently here that discussed the median age of viewers for CNN, FOX, NBC was 68, 69, 70 with the figures rising year after year. I really expected those to be lower, but as someone who doesn’t consume media that way, I guess I underestimated just how many people don’t consume media that way.

I’m surprised PBS and NPR have such a disparity in their audience. PBS is close to average which is good and makes sense as a public service.

Why does NPR skew so much higher towards college grads?

Makes sense considering the news sources near the top are the same college students would have to cite on occasion for a research paper or whatever. Why not go back to the same old well to get their news after graduating?

Seems a lot of college grads haven’t been updating their news feeds in reaction to newsroom cuts, which is disappointing. I would hope sources that have really taken a hit, like wapo and npr, would start moving down the ranks.

Wouldn’t you want it to be lower? The issue is that high quality news isnt be consumed uniformly by the country.
