5 years later - pc gamers still playing it while console services are shut down
25 years later - PC gamers still playing it while it is unavailable for console and illegal to play on other devices.
modern yakuza games, for example, will all be digital paperweights on pc as soon as the denuvo online activation servers go down. ps5 copies will still work as long as there is a functioning console and a functional disk.
Lol wut? All of the Yakuza games are cracked at this point and have plenty of “distribution sources” out there, and the PS5 requires an internet connection to even use the disc drive. Don’t forget about disc rot and day 1 patches either!
None of the games after the 2020 rebranding have been cracked, with the notable caveat being Yakuza LAD, which was not cracked but is available DRM-free on GOG
Yakuza LAD
I’m choosing to read that as “Yakuza Lad” rather than the abbreviation it actually is.
To paraphrase Eddie Izzard, “Triad Man and Yakuza Lad” could be a whole series! …with a lot of complaints
I don’t care about mods or FPS in the hundreds. I care that the games are discounted to a reasonable price, include all the content, and fully patched/ optimized.
GOG/Steam sales is what you are looking for, or getting some good “personal backups” of games to run in an emulator. You can upscale and enhance them better than they ever were on original hardware.
Also, we don’t have to pay for online, and never will :)

Don’t give them ideas
Console players swing overwhelmingly toward the younger side. I don’t think kids without any semblance of understanding of what they’re missing out on feel like they’re missing out.
Honestly I think this is just a good summary of console players. I’m not young, but I play console, and don’t think about PC… ever. I’m happy PC players found their niche, I’m happy with mine, let’s talk about the games we love!
How’s the cost of RAM these days, guys?
Consoles don’t use memory, right?
Console part prices have been negotiated years in advance.
Splendid! but we’re facing a several years long DRAM shortage, just so you know.
Yep and depending on contracts, some things will be affected more than others.
DIY PC builders are the first ones to suffer
