Hello everyone! As a lot of us may have noticed, this community was locked for a while. Well, just like we announced here 5 days ago, we’ve set it free again! Let’s help this community thrive and keep it an amazing space together.
From now on, you may post and participate here any time you wish. Though please feel encouraged to follow the community rules, which you can read from the sidebar.
We will be looking for new moderators, and holding regular events here from now on. If you would like to become a moderator here, then please feel free to comment. If you have a sweet new banner or icon for us, then please feel very free to comment. If you have a suggestion for a nice event to have, then please feel very very free to comment! May our future be in peace with all.
Thank you for being here! Cheers :)
In order to counter reddit’s attempt at engagement with r/place, the admins on Lemmy.world have asked me, Lemmy’s only real celebrity, to be the top moderator of the newly reopened !android@lemmy.world.
Being a long-time participant of this community before its sudden closure, and needing something to do during the strike after the movie promotion is over, I accepted.
We have a new set of rules which should look familiar to you at this point. So, just as a member of this community with more responsibility, let’s chat about the new rules here.
Because ultimately, this community belongs to YOU, the wonderful people of Lemmy.world, not me or anyone else.
That’s the spirit!
So cool to see you on here!
You too.
Good. The lemdroid instance is run by the subreddit mods, and they’re toxic as hell.
For what it’s worth, !android@lemmy.ml never closed.
Are there any toxic behavior from them in particular that you would like to talk about?
I mean, besides the obvious one, of course.
Not OP, but personally I found their level of micromanagement a bit offputting, such as their deletion of every support-adjacent post.
Yeah, I don’t think that’s a problem here since the ranking algorithm is different and things are a lot slower. We’ll see how it goes.
I haven’t noticed any toxicity on the lemdro.id instance at all, what am I missing lol?

Yeah, we were all very unhappy with their behavior, and it’s our hope that we leave them behind in the past and focus on building our part of the community instead.
I can’t promise you much, but this I can promise: this is not my community, this is our community, and we will all do our best to make this the best that it can be.
Without drama.
And we’ll politely yet firmly tell them to leave if they try to start drama here.
Yes! <3

I’d rather have dead communities that can be revived than someone being able to block the names from being used on other instances.
Welcome back. You’re going to like it here.
XDA and Android Central are different forums, yet they co-exist fine.
Smaller places with passionate people have their advantages, people will talk to each other instead of at each other more.
I agree with you :)
Oh, also, before I forget, we will be running a community icon/banner contest next weekend. So, get your stylus and Stable Diffusion models ready to get a head start.
I would say 256x256 is good for the icon, can be bigger or smaller, but has to be square. Current icon is decent though, it’s fresh and cute, so you can vote to keep it as is.
For the banner, let’s do 1280x400.
Thank you for re-opening the place!
And it’s not going anywhere.
Hi!
Thanks for helping guys! Cheers
Welcome back!
Welcome to you too.
Woot woot!
Welcome aboard!

I’m confused. Why did the merge not happen?
Because the community here did not want it to happen.
