That’s step 1 before the inevitable step 2: starting an ‘alpha male’ podcast and complaining about ‘gold diggers’, lol.

Ah yes, classic boomer misogyny disguised as a meme.

I mean, the post sure is shit, I’ll give it that much.

Why is this misogyny, women who like money exist, whether you like it or not, more so than women who like old men for their bodies/looks, if anything the butt of the joke here is the old man.

Or if you want to deeper you can say the butt of the joke is us living in a terrible capitalistic system where money is capable of overriding our desires.

The meme doesn’t say all women go for money, it just says that’s the best chance the old guy has at impressing one of the girls.

You’d have to be some quite thin skinned offense seeking machine to see it like that, in my opinion.

To quote Marylin Monroe - Don’t you know that a man being rich is like a girl being pretty? You wouldn’t marry a girl just because she’s pretty, but my goodness, doesn’t it help? from gentleman prefer blondes. Everyone would love a partner with money, just like most of us would like to be physically attracted to them too, very few people are actively seeking a poor partner, like “be poor” isn’t really an attribute you see often on people’s lists, there’s nothing wrong with “liking money” if it’s part of building a life with someone right? I thought it was just calling the dude weak/ugly and his only hope was try to offer something else lol idk I didn’t see it as misogynistic, more like dunking on the dude by saying these women aren’t impressed bro, try something else

Similar interpretation here, the interpretation that this meme says that all women only want money is a quite a leap, didn’t even occur to me for a second

Oh come off it. You and I both know that the man in this image is not the butt of the “joke,” and it’s an insult to both our intelligence to pretend otherwise. Fucking sad that it’s 2025 and we’re still defending pathetic positions like “the only thing that really impresses women is wealth” under the guise of shit like “no, no, see, he’s old, so it’s actually a deep and nuanced boomer humor Facebook post from Grandpa.”

Sling insults and argue ad hominem to try and deflect all you want, this meme is base level, early 2000s sexism.

Once again, the joke is not that the only thing that impresses women is wealth, it’s that the old guy can only impress women with wealth (or rather that’s his best shot) otherwise why do you think it’s specifically an old guy in the picture? Why isn’t it just a guy?

          I can’t help if you can’t interpret a simple 2 sentence, 1 picture meme.

Because that is the target audience, but not the explicit message.

Your bias colors the post in a light that is favorable to your interpretation. Interpreted from a wider lens, it is genuinely perpetuating sexism. You’ve simply internalized it.

    Pfft.

If that were true Id have no problem picking up women.

Actually, now that I think about it, how the hell would I say I make $150k/yr without saying it? You really can’t can you? So how would you attract women with it?

Edit: y’all are fucking insane. Income isn’t an attraction factor. It’s a relationship factor in terms of stability and safety.

Edit 2: I may have misread the post

Gosh! How could a man possibly signal wealth to potential mates?

If only society could come up with ways to flaunt one’s wealth!

I appreciate the sarcasm, but that’s the thing. I don’t get it.

I don’t know what makes wealthier people look wealthy. You can’t tell a watch is a Rolex from 20 feet away. Tailored Suit and tie? Great, everyone else wears that too.

A house? I can’t bring that with me wherever I go.

A car? I don’t know if you’ve met many women who care about what you drive.

Do what men in the good old days did.

      Buy a pocket watch.
      Get a tophat and suit.
      Walk around with a cane.
Pay for horse carriage instead of walking.
Rename yourself Klein Moretti and uncover eldritch mysteries.
      Wear a monocle.

Seeing how that is solidly middle class you still need a decent personality to back that up so that might be the issue.

if you reeeallt wanted to attract a shallow person:
      fancy clothes, car, house…
and humble bragging like, “damn this stock market! i lost $1 million dollars this morning… oh well, i can spare it”.
also you can go to very expensive places that only rich people can afford.

Women are just aware of status symbols as men are, except we appreciate different status symbols than men… you can use your money to workout, get fit and ask your trainer these questions, for example

“Hello ${Woman’s Name}. Would you like to join me for dinner on ${Select free date} at ${Restaurant with 3 or 4 dollar signs for price on Yelp}? I also have a second ticket for ${Popular sold out show at theater} if you’d like to join me?”

Take a shower and dress nicely first, before asking and before the date. Try just doing it everyday. Pay for everything, never look at prices for more than a second, if at all. In this way, you will communicate that you have disposable income and are willing and able to consider another person’s happiness, if even momentarily, which will put you far ahead of most men in the running.

        Ok see, THAT makes sense.

Also helps that I don’t look at prices anyway(not that that behavior is a good thing, I still need to budget for disposable income) unless something looks stupid, like a $200 steak (There is a place here with a $70 steak, I’m tempted to try it one day).

That’s a good point, but it’s still 2.5x the median income for the area I live.

These are red flags that will ruin your chances and if you are acting differently towards women, stop acting and just stop trying to humble brag about your income. It’s a lot easier to not try to trick people
