How does your lifestyle compare to that of a “hobo,” “tramp,” “vagabond,” etc.? Do you consider yourself part of any defined cultural movement of that sort, or are you just sort of doing your own thing?

I consider myself a vagabond. It’s similar but the difference is a hobo or tramp does it due to a financial situation where as a vagabond or drifter does it as a lifestyle.

Is there a social or political aspect to it? I watched this Tasting History video the other day, where he talked about how post-Civil-War to Depression-era hobos had conventions and secret writing systems and lived together in “jungles” and all sorts of organized stuff like that. Is that still a thing, and do you participate in it?
