I guess there’s a bit of a difference between some EU states and US in this. In Finland, rising unemployment level has been entirely due to immigrants and we are not yet throwing them out due to this.

Most of the recent new immigrants are from Ukraine, so I guess that’d be a bit too evil even for an austerity government.

I should build an autoinvesting bot that takes lemmy comments as input and does the exact opposite of the sentiments of those comments. There’s gonna be some broken clock moments here and there for sure, but overall it might be pretty good.

The main reason I whine to kids when they cannot put their phones down is so that they would put their phones down. I’m not passively complaining about the state of the world, I’m doing what I’m supposed to as a parent and/or older person.

Ask a lefty if they’re in favour of charging people fines based on net worth/income, rather than based on a flat rate. Speeding ticket? That’ll be 0.5% of your annual salary, or 0.5% of your net worth, or a baseline minimum amount, whatever’s higher.

As a Finn, I’m perpetually amazed when that’s not how it works in every country. I’m not a lefty, nor poor, and I think that’s the only reasonable way to handle fines.
