Doesn’t Valve fix this for games with their Steam Runtime?
They tried making devs port their games to linux, but most of them didnt bother as the userbase of steamOS was very small, and the userbase did not grow because the game catalogue was very small.

Games@lemmy.world•AMD and Sony’s PS6 chipset aims to rethink the current graphics pipelineEnglish
2·10 months agoI’m no expert on the matter, but I know this yt channel argues that the technology is already available. The thing is, big players like unreal engine devs make sub-optimal decisions when implementing these new features, leaving a lot of games being blurry and/or mal-ajusted simply by not knowing any better. Of course, art direction will always be important for a games graphics, but when the vast majority of tools available make things look bad by default, it makes sense that people will assume a better result is just not available yet.

PC Gaming@lemmy.ca•Saints Row 2's Juiced Patch makes the PC port so much better it's criminalEnglish
8·11 months agoI recently used the juiced patch to play the gog version. It only crashed once in my 18 hour playthrough while continously destroying stuff with unlimited rpg ammo, so I’d recommend it for the extra options like skipping the obnoxiously long video intro
LocalSend for quick local network file sharing from my phone that just werks. I prefer it over kde connect because the latter uses lots of random ports that kinda bloat my firewall whitelist. I know there is an alternative called warpinator, but I don’t see a reason to change my preferences for now.
