“If there are ads”
WTF where do you live?

Well, honestly?
Since these certificates are not banned nor up for debate, the NSA probably already have a way to get all the data through another loop hole.
Yes, it protects against “attacks” from outside, but it’s naive to expect they dont have another way in which goes beyond LetsEncrypt.

Is anyone wonders why it’s a problem it’s under US juristriction:
Look up the US Cloud Act. It’s everything the media told you China was, but in the hands of an orange dictator.

It’s funny how many rules there’s made by the party who always talk about freedom.

It doesnt work like that in Denmark. You can get this without being a Danish citizen with a Danish passport.
You can also get this ID as a child with your parents consent.

That’s a fair point.
My argument only applied to the age verification in the Danish app, which doesnt share the ID to any server.
The point is that you get a verification by logging in with another 2FA app, whos only job is to verify with the government server, that you are indeed a Danish citizen with official documentation.
Then the other app recieves that token that only contains an age group with a true flag. This token is then shared with the private companies.
As a stand alone solution to age verification that everyone needs to use, this is pretty well thought out.
If a Linux phone then comes around that everyone would buy, you could do it better, yes.

It’s always interesting to me when I hear people who distrusts governments more than private companies.
Maybe because I’m from Denmark, but it sounds so backwards.
If I were from the US tho, I would think the same. Or like “i’m fucked regardless”

Depends from country to country.
Denmark for example have issued an age verification app, where no data other than “Allowed/Declined” is leaving the app.
No specific age, no name, no data.
The token is issued by the government.

Always expect what China might do, the US (NSA) does more.

Then they removed their ads from all channels below 8,000 hours, right?.. Right?!

This comment should have been the post.

Only the EU will ever give those kind of fines in that scale. In the US they will lobby (corrupt) their way out of it to get a symbolic slap on the wrist.
Or just make an AI post with Trump portrayed as God or something.

Why tf do they need to order that?! Meta should fucking remove it immideatly themselves!

They could give it to the world, but it will still be for “power”.
If this existed, alot of industries would die overnight, and alot of them are in the west, oil states in the middle east and Russia.
Fossil fuels would be almost redundant, as everything would start to run on electricity. (this will take some time ofc) China is also winning the EV race hard, so they will certinatly benefit big time.
China also invested alot of money and time in the third world, and that will all be new markets for them if this shift happens.
The dark horse in this would be the EU, as they are already shifting towards green power and EVs.
The wind power industry in Europe would be the biggest blow, and then ofc Norway would have alot of oil left. BUT Norway has invested heavily in that transition, so they might come out on the other side pretty great.
Scary thing is he didnt really accomplish much with his sacrifies. NSA is much scarier today and things just goes on.

Fucking hell, can we get an age and qualification limit on politicians already?

Agreed.
But it also proves that you need government intervention for companies to make the best products for consumers.
Product > profit

Anyone still think the heavy AI investments are for anything other than surveillance?

Who gives a shit, when US are the ones invading. They should fuck right off, just as Russia should fuck out of Ukraine.
It’s no different.
I remember one of the arguments against EV’s were that “there’s so few chargers compared to gas”.
And then you realise that chargers are literally at homes, workplaces, parking lots and ALSO at gas stations.
Which makes speed less important. The headline is spot on.
