Cars.

Most any vehicle made after 2006 will have one or more of these three issues:

1. Lack of repairability. Not just computerization, but auth to the point where changing your brake pads and rotors can make your vehicle refuse to move until those brakes and rotors are authorized over the Internet by the vehicle manufacturer. And the software to do so costs $1M to buy, needs a $6k/mo subscription, and can only be bought by authorized dealers, locking out independent repair shops.
2. Privacy. Almost all vehicles after 2006 and any before that with OnStar records everything the vehicle does and sends that up to the mothership to be repackaged and sold to data brokers. Then your insurance gets a copy and jacks up what you pay because you braked hard and sped slightly over the limit a few times. Modern cars will also record everything that happens inside and around the vehicle, to the point where when you buy the car you have to sign a waiver that states they have permission to record anyone doing anything inside the vehicle, up to and including having sex in the back seat.
3. DRM. When you buy a vehicle with all the bells and whistles, but many of those bells and whistles are shut down until you pay $$$/mo to have them turned back on. Sorry, but if the vehicle came with it, I will gleefully crack that software until I can use that feature. I paid for it when I bought the vehicle, so I have every right to use it without paying a cent extra.

It takes a shitton of work to build up a good garden that requires minimal work to start up every spring. But with that original section, we just have to drop seeds directly into the soil and add straw (Ruth Stout method) once the seedlings are up to suppress weeds and hold in moisture. The spring prep work for just that section has dropped by almost 80% over the last five years.

Most women are “functionally sterile” - as defined by medical science - by their early 40s, and will not be able to conceive a child and carry it to term without medical assistance. Hell, pregnancies after 35 are called “geriatric pregnancies” for that very reason - they occur at the very tail end of a woman’s fertility window, and so carry with it a constellation of higher than normal risks to both mother and baby.

Remember: women’s fertility begins declining significantly in their early 30s and drops off a cliff by their late 30s. This is Science fact. Sure, some women still be able to have a naturally-conceived child into their late 40s, but these are the very rare exceptions. Very few in their 40s are successfully bearing naturally-conceived children without modern technology doing most to all of the heavy lifting.

It’s almost as if that old Puritan bullshit about pain and suffering leading to godliness is still around and causing serious problems.

If you got something incurable and terminal and which is only going to get abysmally worse, you should have the ability to go out on your own terms in a peaceful and well-structured manner.

1. It took the FBI until 2015 to even begin recording female-on-male rape as rape, because before then it wasn’t considered rape. And so national law enforcement stats for female-on-make rape in America just don’t exist before 2015.
2. Many police precincts still use software that hard-codes the victim as female and the perp as male, further frustrating justice by creating “erroneous” records that are trivial to dismiss, and preventing a full accounting of the problem by preventing correct gender identification of the victim and perp.
3. Almost all men have been brainwashed to think that it is impossible for a woman to rape a man, be it physical or psychological coercion, so many of these male victims don’t even realize they have been victimized.

And the disparity of how society treats male rapists vs female rapists gets horrifically misandrist once you truly examine the rape of minors.

Because many male children raped by adult women get traumatized by the legal system as it extracts child support from them to pay their rapist for her crimes. And society celebrates and trivializes these rapes, with the media calling them “trysts” and “romps” and doing everything in its power to absolve the rapists of responsibility by making it look like the child was the aggressor.

Here, people, is an absolutely exquisite example of the Apex Fallacy in action: using the 1% to 0.1% of men that fit the conditions and applying that case to the other 99% who don’t have these characteristics and could never achieve the same prosecutorial immunity.

For the vast majority of men, even the insinuation of sexual malfeasance is enough to destroy careers and marriages.

Hell, even good samaritans lose everything, and they did absolutely nothing wrong.

Even a “yes” can, and frequently is, converted into a “no” retroactively, sometimes well after the act. It all comes down to feelings before facts and how she personally prefers to interpret the event regardless of the passage of time.

And unless the entire action is videotaped and notarized, as a man you are defined as being in the wrong 100% of the time.

Plus, as a man you are also faced with epic levels of societal hypocrisy that you have no ability to counteract, regardless of how things actually went.

The only rational and sane risk-assessment analysis for any man in the lower-90% is to consider ALL responses a “no”, and to just walk away.

It’s actually that simple.

And the problem that old, ossified, hidebound systems have is their inertia. They are obsessed with old and even obsolete metrics.

The Ukraine war has demonstrated overwhelmingly that classical militaries are wildly obsolete. That the future lies in drone warfare and well-equipped units that have the ability to operate with minimal to no direction and levels of support that make America’s military seem like a country club.

This is also where our current F-35/Gripen argument fails utterly for the F-35. Sure, it is technologically sophisticated. It has “stealth”. It can do a few things that the Gripen cannot.

But where it fails dramatically is the ability to field many units for minimal cost. To field said units with just a handful of ground crew and maintenance crew. To field units across all sorts of harsh environments, even down to short lengths of Arctic highways. And most importantly: to field units that cannot be remotely disabled by the aggressor.

By any metric that has cropped up in the Ukraine, the F-35 is a costly and counterproductive albatross around the neck of any military that doesn’t have America’s level of military spending. It is dead weight that can and will drag down any capabilities that the military wants to achieve.

Canada needs to ensure we have the most possible numbers for the fewest dollars. Every war in history has made this abundantly clear - volume trumps quality and tech sophistication each and every time. Even in WWII, where the Tiger tank was easily the match of a half-dozen Sherman tanks, that tech superiority ceased to matter when 10, 20, or even more Shermans came trundling over the hill for every Tiger tank that was fielded.

And when you can get over 420 Gripens for the same up-front cost as the original 88 F-35 contract (which has since ballooned dramatically), the choice is a no-brainer: Gripen all the way.
