  • I really never found bots to be a problem. Maybe 1 of 20 matches and one gal I actually met started the chat with me saying she knows her profile looks like a bot but she is real and then asks me to meet her later this week for coffee. 😂 im not hot by any means, but she was… sadly it didn’t work out but damn good 45 days.

Mine has always been truth of person. No one seems to be who they really are on their profile.

I’ve paid for a few to see if it helps - It does and I feel like it was worth it up until 2 years ago when they changed how matching works. But you know what doesn’t work, people telling the truth on their profile. So great, I had better matches or in my case on bumble, better choice for matches based on who liked me. But damn if Jeni from the town next door loved “hiking” when really she just loved watching tv and one day wanted to “be more active”. She also told me she wanted to move to Spain one day… guess who also wanted to move to Europe ( Spain, wherever) - me! But I got the job and she’s pulling the “well not yet!!!” and in the end just wanted to visit and knew I have money to do this. P.s. I live in Spain now.

Each profile is a crafted (and truth bending) aspect of your life for others to review and I hate how it doesn’t capture the truth of who you really are in person. I went in being honest and found women who liked the same, but yet they were never really who they were on the app. I found my best matches when I wasn’t truthful or bent the truth a tad but yet I never stayed together long.

Best girlfriend so far, met her organically on the beach because my dog went over to say hi by licking her face. She’s a bit over the top, has tattoos everywhere including a funny phrase on her ass, but she’s the most compatible woman I’ve met so far.

  • Yeah, 20 years ago they weren’t a self paid tracker that reported my every action on the web - tracking was minimal and limited. But now maybe not a forest as much as just limiting what tech I have in my house - for instance last week I bought an analaog scale to replace my 15 year old smart one from Withings that has been without WiFi for years.

I also limit how much time I have my phone on my person, or total screen time.

  • Reading this thread has taught me that when I have a girl over and she tells me that I am not a normal male, I really had no idea how much I didn’t do as a male that other men do all the time….

I wear all of my clothes until they show clear signs of being worn out and then determine whether that it should be donated or trashed. And i have one shirt then I’ll probably never throw away and it’s one that I’ve had since the 80s, my goonies shirt.

  • Companies claiming 99.9999 uptime is an absurd goal for a SLA, and wouldn’t even survive a small internet outage like a DDoS attack or Akamai outage. I remember in the 90s selling the idea of 5 9’s - 99.999% on my resume until some manager who Interviewed me asked me to state the expected downtime. I stopped claiming that number because it’s impossible without full active redundancy in different locations and not dependent on external providers like cloudflare ever going down.

And please don’t argue maintenance windows “cover it” because that’s not how they work in the real world today.

    Downtime per year:

    • 99% ~3.65 days (5,256 min)
    • 99.9% ~8.77 hours (526 min)
    • 99.99% ~52.6 min
    • 99.999% ~5.26 min
    • 99.9999% ~31.5 seconds

For my home lab I’m happy my stuff is online and content I hardly lose access when there’s a power outage thanks to my ups. But if I tracked I’d be closer to 95%. Good enough but I can’t wait till I just don’t care to run anything.

Ahh, chicken little the world is not cooked yet. But it’s close.

When you have not enough food, when the water shortages start and when the world temps stay so high we can’t bear it, well then itll be to late to fight back.

Good news is, the world will heal when the virus dies.

  • I’m shaking in my boots, Utah. I’m skared!!! Prove that I’m surfing PORN. Maybe I just want to protect my privacy and stop my ISP from selling my online activities. But also, porn. I know Europe has a few countries imposing this, but damn am I glad to not be in the USA anymore. I’d likely be shot and killed leading a revolution. At least people would have a martyr…

Mullvad has quantum resistance and DIATA. Only when VPNs are outlawed will this be an issue.
