It is. It’s one of the reasons i’ve pivot back to reddit these last few months.

    1. More then Reddit this place is an echo chamber for the far left anti capitalist crowd. While I don’t mind a discussion, everything over simplified to EAT THE RICH was getting tiresome.

    2. No company or institution is here. If I have a problem with my [insert device or appliance here] chances are good someone on reddit will reply and 50/50 there is a useable answer somewhere. Here it just stays silent. Or you get the anti capitalist reply that everything is fucked and we should just eat the rich.

    3. There are no real gaming or device or brand communities. Want to ask something about modding game x? Not here. Want to hook up with other players of game y? Not here. Want to know how to fix your [household appliance here]? Not here…Have a problem with mainboard from brand z? Not here.

    4. When you ask something here about Linux or any other gpl software the answer often times boils down to RTFMI! (I= idiot) That also happens on reddit to be honest. But here it’s just more extreme. And I know I’m an idiot. That’s why I asked. I’m too stupid can someone please explain.

    5. Where the fuck is LJDawson. Sync is dead it seems.

And yes. Reddit more and more feels like an AI test site. For example the AITA posts are getting more and more out of this world. They are unbelievable, that’s just for clicks. So the enshittification is not slowly but very fast becoming a problem and within a few months it will be another youtube, unusable. But for now… It’s the best we have.

  • He is just saying:

It is YOUR choice to drink too much. To smoke too much, to get high on heroin, to do coke. To eat fatty sugary foods. It is your body, your temple. Not that of the government.

He is not talking about a law framework, he is talking about a moral framework. What right do YOU have to tell me what I can and cannot do when my actions can only hurt myself?

To take this one step further: All narcocrimes come from one simple fact: BECAUSE it’s illegal, the possible profits are so vast that any risk becomes acceptable to the Narcos.

Make it legal. Regulate it. Like we did with smokes and alcohol. Slap a 16/18+ sticker on it, add some tax.

We learned this during the prohibition, the gangster era. But for some reason or another we still use that proven False logic when it comes to narcotics.

Make something which people want illegal and there will be uncontrollable crime. That crime will harden. This (the current path of the us government) is not a solution, it is an escalation. There will be a response.

I just love MiG’s. Why? Because the ruskies just rawdogged everything. They saw the F16 with all that fancy fly by wire stuff and made a nimble MiG without any real computer assisted flying with the fulcrum. You have the fastest plane with the SR-71? Well fuck that, here , we’ve put an after burner on that MiG-31 so big it more or less matches the SR-71 speed. It just burns through the engine in one flight and the airframe also takes a big hit when you use it but who cares about costs, we’re commies.

Soviet aerospace engineers man. You just have to love them. They really used that hammer logic (hit it harder!) on everything.

Or the approach which led to the hind heli. What? You need a gunship and you need a troop transport? What do you say, the Americans have pinpoint precision on that superCobra and that shiny Apache thingy?

Here, i’ve made it big so it can fit a lot of troops. I’ve added some large wings so you can fill her up with all kinds of low tech Rockets so you don’t need pinpoint precision. Just point and click in the general direction and everything over there is annihilated. Yeah, that goes for that tank and that family of twelve 100m further down the street where you didn’t aim at as well.

But, they aren’t us anyway so… And next to that the fucker is really fast for such a big helo…

The design principles are so fantasticly wack. Matching (try to) western computertech with low tech solutions.

  • The exact workings im not familiar with but it’s called “leveraged buyout” where the net worth of the firm which is bought is the collateral.

So … you buy firm A with money you lended. When the sale gors through all belongings of firm A are yours! So you sell them off, you know what? You want to make a profit so you sell EVERYTHING.

Now firm A is but a husk of it’s former self. So now is the time to put it in some holding company or something. Now the husk of firm A is indebted to you.

Oh noes! It goes bankrupt! With your investment firm as the biggest lender to it!

Tried it twice. Couldn’t get a dog from the shelter. Why? We weren’t married. (?) The both of us worked 4 days. We had a child.

So we shrugged it off, waved and snuggled with the sad doggies and never came back.

And we just bought a puppy. No rules. No problems. Now, 20+ years later we’re on to our third very happy dog.

Anyway: a lot of shelters do their best to scare people away. And they succeed.

  • You are born in the very very very best stretch the human race has ever known.

We have solutions for almost every problem which exists today.

Wars are at an historical low point.

Chances are good you’ve never been even experienced war first hand.

Housing is expensive, yes. But chances are you’re reading this on a couch or bed in a home, heated (or cooled), with a working stove, light at night and a fridge with edibles in it. And lets not talk about your immediate almost unrestricted access to all of human knowledge.

That would be unbelievable, impossible even during 99.9% of human history. (Or somewhere near this figure)

You should stop doomscrolling and start reading the real human history.

All of human knowledge at your fingertips. And this is what you chose to distill from it.

  • 30 years ago? So 1995. As one who was there: fuck no. The 90s where cool, everything seemed fixed, osties travelling through Europe in their Trabant 2 stroke miniature cars. (That was fun on the Autobahn) Only Saddam was jerking around and that was far away, internet was brand new, everything seemed possible. No terrorist threat of the RAF, IRA or the bask separation front. There was even hope for peace in Israel.

But if you would say 40 or 50 years ago? I would say fuck yes. It’s much better nowadays. The cold war was wild. The recession of the 80s was bleak af, Thatcher, Reagan. PLO, RAF, IRA, Basks. No man, there was a reason behind films like aliens, Terminator and punk music. Why they resonated with society at that time. Contrary to current popular belief the 80s was not a decade long neon party. Many people lost their jobs. Youth unemployment was at it’s highest ever. No jobs, no houses available. It was dark. Darkest time of my life. Everyone thought nuclear war was inevitable. We would all die of radiation or in the cold harsh nuclear winter. Yup. That was the Outlook at that time.

70s was the all time high of the cold war, oil crisis, something else i’m forgetting. But I was a small child back then so everything about that era is hearsay.

But for me? The 90s where good. 80s sucked hard. (End) 70s also had a lot of downs.

  • Point? Like most gifts, there is no point. You just got it.

Thats how I treat my life: as a gift. Because what makes me me, existed as matter for eons. Inert. And by an insane oddity it got “infused” with life, thought, wonder but only for an extremely short while. And after that short period it will go back into that inert state. So i do nice things which are within my reach. Things that makes me feel good. And modern (western) society gives us a lot of time to do that. I know it doesn’t always feel like that but if you look at it historically we have the most off time ever.

Nice things can be anything. Maybe meaningless on the Grand scale of things, but I like making my family happy. I love cuddling my stinky old dog(well, not that old), I hate gardening but love the outcome of it. And yes, I love wasting time on movies, reading, gaming, theater. Or hikes. Or travel in general. The smell of the sea. The feeling of being in a forest. That first time you played “The last of us”. that one specific movie. Or read that one fantastic book. That feeling when you finished it. Or when you went to that insanely funny comedian. Or just hanged out drinking beers (or whatever )with friends or colleagues. Its all fantastic.

And most of the times I like my job and try to forward my little society with it. (I work for a municipality) Within my own little means.

So… meaning? Of life? Experience shit. Make up your own mind.

And please: don’t use big tech socials. They’re made so you don’t feel good, get addicted to them. Get you hooked. It and it’s goals (sell ads!) are evil.

I’ve been inert for eternity. I will not waste that little time I have. Experience something. Anything.

  • I was in the same boat. Then I decided that the 50x0 was a paper launch and the leaks told me that the 9070XT would lower or have the same performance as the 7900xtx.

Then the 7900xtx dropped in price, clearing the channel for the new gen.

    Then I bought that.

Ever since I’ve been wondering… Why didn’t I buy this thing earlier?

It’s more then fast enough. The RT performance is above the 3080.

Every 9070XT I can buy now is almost 200 euro more then what i payed for the 7900xtx.

What I learned? Buy previous gen in it’s “dying” weeks.
