Piracy: ꜱᴀɪʟ ᴛʜᴇ ʜɪɢʜ ꜱᴇᴀꜱ@lemmy.dbzer0.com•I got infected like an idiotEnglish
6·3 months agoprobably i would have ran it outside as the crack just silently “crashed” (while successfully dropped the malware as admin in the right spot, ready to be ran as admin at the next boot via the task scheduler) and i would have thought “maybe it doesn’t run in a sandbox/vm”.
But yes, in a hindsight, if i ran in sandboxie then i might have noticed that it had dropped suspiciously named files in common:startup with that nice file transfer GUI (unless if the malware detected sandboxie and did not run the malicious routines)

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•How would you get rich if you couldn't die for 4 years.
2·4 months agoCouldn’t die = invincible and invulnerable from anything or “couldn’t die” from a monkey’s paw wish?
Because the latter might be “couldn’t die because in a few minutes you get a serious accident where you stay in a coma for 4 years and then die”

I read as “Arch Linux drops support for GNOME” and my heart fluttered

Apparently this happened by itself

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Half Of PlayStation Players Still Haven't Upgraded To PS5
2·2 years agoAnd Nintendo proved this right by making successful games on underpowered systems. The switch it’s basically an Android tablet from last decade sold with crazy markup but talented game designers make compelling games
Sure, in the store they have 3rd party do lazy shitty ports like this https://www.nintendo.com/us/store/products/jello-run-switch/ but I feel it has more interesting games than the photorealistic ones on PS5, except the masterpieces by insomniac studio, but those can also be played on PS4 or PC

Gaming@lemmy.ml•Half Of PlayStation Players Still Haven't Upgraded To PS5
8·2 years agoThe PS5 doesn’t even have a browser because they’re scared of exploits
Why not just have some hardened Firefox with auto updates instead of licensing a browser from a company specialized in exploitable browsers for consoles? Nobody uses netfront, why Sony and Nintendo are so obsessed with it?

Fediverse@lemmy.ml•Is Mastodon's Link-Previewing Overloading Servers ?
3·2 years agoIf I understand right that means link previews are requested every single time an user sees it? The instance should request it once a week, cache it and serve that to users
Yes but let’s remember everyone that Apple did their “best” in this. If a developer makes a browser that doesn’t use WebKit, then can publish that version only in Europe. For the rest of the world it’s still forced to publish the usual “Safari skin”. Basically doubling the work and the monetary cost of developing a browser.
No. First you always say “it’s so easy to build a PC, you’re dumb to get a console for gaming”. Pay attention to always say this, even in unrelated circumstances
Then, after years of saying that “it’s so easy”, when your friend finally says “I finally want to build a PC, can you help me?”, you drop this bomb

Memes@lemmy.ml•My landlord thinks my gaming pc is for work... haha
4·2 years agoThere was a meme about a landlord complaining on Facebook that nobody tipped them
I wasted 15 minutes of my life to understand why he is staying that “blur” is crashing the price of that jpg
It looks like that there’s a new nft marketplace that created some shitcoin as a reward for users. When someone trades a jpg , the platform print this worthless monopoly money and give as a reward for the user. Because there’s dumb people that is buying this monopoly money thinking that surely it would be worth something, whales are exchanging those jpgs between them in order to get the free monopoly money as a gift, so they can dump them immediately and buy more jpgs to exchange.
What a waste of compute energy
TIL that my country has bended over the copyright trolls and blocked Archive.is, need a VPN to view…

Considering that if you use a custom ROM, you’re a pro user, the 1% of the users, this means only one of this two cases:
The Google Pixel line is a complete failure and failed to reach mainstream status, nobody knows the brand and buys the phones in a store, they’re moving 1000x less units than Apple
There’s some error in your numbers
