Ahh got it, I missed that, thank you!
Sure, agreed, but why say that in reply to this post? I feel like either there’s a link here I’m not seeing or this is just spam.
EDIT: Got an explanation linking the post to reddit. I missed the bar at the very bottom showing reddit stuff.
Apparently scientists found a way to draw a violin that’s 13 microns wide. Fuckin crazy, idk how they did it, but I love that they did.

We had a $2k fridge that broke within a few years of owning it. We got it fairly discounted due to a dent in the side.
Our $150 fridge from Sears is still in the garage, and still runs perfectly after owning it for 13 years. Looks pretty much like the one in the pic.
Segregation pleases the beans. Ask Kansas.
I don’t understand - you’ve never read books?

21·5 months agoWelp, that attitude is why the written portion of English hasn’t updated in a long time and is why it’s so bad. Also, English is one of the most widely spoken languages in the world, wild to call it useless lol.

31·5 months agoInteresting, I never thought of it from the perspective of AI before.
EDIT: I’m not saying it’s effective in fighting against AI, I just didn’t know about this being a/the reason for doing this and it’s interesting. Before, I just started seeing it pop up everywhere for seemingly no reason. At least there’s logic, albeit flawed, behind it’s origins.

9·5 months agoI think there’s a lot of change in written English that needs updating. I think the thorn is lowest priority, if not completely unnecessary lol

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•People who are learning a foreign language: what are you learning & how is it going?
1·5 months agoI"m pretty sure that the voice of the instructor is AI, it bugs me so much lol. I’ve been trying to avoid AI as much as possible, so if I’m really struggling to find more info on what I’m looking for, I’ll resort to it maybe.

I keep bouncing around on the sources for where I’m studying from. I started with w3schools, but didn’t like it. I went to https://programming-24.mooc.fi/ and I like it. I’m currently also watching these videos being used for prep on a certification, but they’re not great - the slides sometimes will have errors (print statement without closing parantheses for example) and sometimes the instructor will read one thing but the slide says something else (instructor says “max” but slide says “min” - luckily this time it was just the names of variables rather than actual functions or something). They also don’t go in depth on a lot of methods, and there’s no good exercises or anything. But at least it’ll get me a cert if I pass the tests, which is paid for by my work.

Asklemmy@lemmy.ml•What questions do teens (14-18yo) have about choosing a career path, or navigating school and education options?
4·5 months agoNo longer a teen, but I remember liking the information laid out by https://www.bls.gov/ooh/
It broke down stats around career prospects, the education requirements to get into that career, the outlook of future job prospects in that career, etc. I didn’t really care too much about what job I worked, just that I had one, and then I could at least enjoy my life outside of it comfortably. I found a few that seemed interesting to me and worked to those. I think having it all laid out for them would be helpful for them to make their own informed decisions.

Positive news.
