Used for religious purposes of course
Household electricity bill comes in at 30 cents per kilowatt at off peak times, 60 cents per kilowatt at peak (so I’m actually paying the same as the fast charger, and at about 2kw/hour I barely pay more than if I were to fast charge it fortunately it’s only a few hours every evening)
I used to be dismayed that fast charging the electric car ended up being about as expensive as filling the tank with gas (price per mile), because damnit electricity should be cheaper than gas, and I was having to wait “at the pump” for longer periods of time. But it still made up for it because outside of road trips I never had to use the fast chargers.
Now it’s work the wait, because even 60 cents per kilowatt (which is still so much bullshit) I go so much further per dollar than 6 dollars a gallon gas.

Ask Lemmy@lemmy.world•What it something a parent did that damaged your relationship with them forever with no recovery.
6·2 months agoTold me I was probably over reacting and didn’t see things properly when I sent him a video of my neighbor loading a rifle outside our apartment and looking into our window.
I’d just had a blow-up with his roommate/girlfriend about him idling his truck for an excessive amount of time outside our bedroom window every morning, five minutes later he screeches back into the parking lot, drops the lift gate, pulls out a rifle and starts loading it. I got it all on camera because I saw him jump out of the truck looking pissed. Sent the video to the parent and asked him WTF I should do, he said I’m probably over reacting and he had probably simply forgotten it in his truck and was taking it home.
He literally looked at something I was experiencing and told me I wasn’t seeing what I saw. This was just 1 more straw and it finally broke my back. He taught me gun safety, fucking cowardly despicable human.
These days I regret not turning him in for the things I’d found on his computer. That should’ve sealed the deal a long time ago, but kids are dumb and now I’m sure the evidence is gone, and I’m happy to just be done with the waste of breath.

Books@lemmy.ml•Product placement seems to have found a way into books.
11·2 months agoArt is suffering?
Why should an aspiring artist starve before they gain notoriety?
I think we should fund everyone’s way of life with a universal income, but we aren’t doing that, I don’t fault an artist for trying to find a way to survive this capitalist hellscape. Guaranteed income to write a book that might gain you enough of an audience so you can leave product placement behind, I don’t blame the artist.
Do you think art should only be produced by those with existing means?

Books@lemmy.ml•Product placement seems to have found a way into books.
11·2 months agoI mean, that’s a more guaranteed way to make a living than hoping the next book will be as well received as the previous one.
We as a society need to step and and support the arts, in the meantime some private companies are doing more for the arts than the consumers are.

Technology@lemmy.world•Repairing the Steam Deck LCD Gets Much More Expensive as Official Battery Reaches $180English
9·2 months agoUgh,
Yay.
Hopefully it is a popular enough product that 3rd party manufacturers will step in… But who am I kidding… I’ll just keep it plugged in and use the steam machine as much as possible
Having read the article, 3rd party batteries are the same price as the original battery used to be. A shame the oled batteries aren’t compatible with the LCD units.

Get a sleep study done, pushing 40 and not at all normal, once in a while I’ll wake up slowly, or wake up before my body does, and it’s uncomfortable, happened maybe once or twice and if it ever happened multiple days in a row I’d be bringing it up with my primary.

This is from a crusty guy who taught many a fine lady how to drive the ol stick shift. That was such a great pickup line.
Are we going to disparage the companies that did do something for pride month this year because they’re only doing it for the month, ya know pride month, even in this climate? I think let’s not trash them?
