Yeah I hope Valve loses this in favor of developers and consumers. If another platform asks for a smaller share devs should be allowed to set a lower price.

Looks like Krafton negotiated insanely bad bonus conditions and terms for themselves here. Are they adrenaline junkies or am I bad at math because it looks like they have to pay much larger bonuses than they made revenue so far.

And many people warned exactly this would happen. Bambu introduced a closed system into an open source hobby and the parallels to home ink printers were pointed out immediately by the community. Bambu essentially announced this would happen. I‘ve been saying this for years.

What’s important here is that medieval christianity didn‘t burn people at the stake for murder. If you confess you are redeemed in the eyes of god. Of course there‘s also secular justice where things are not that simple but burning at the stake wasn‘t a possible punishment there either.
No, the only way you end up at the stake is relapse after a confession. You had your second chance so if you relapse or withdraw your confession again or do both at the same time in this case, you get burned to death because in the eyes of medieval christianity you are beyond help at that point. The only way to cleanse your soul is through fire.
That‘s how the Templars ended up at the stake too. Not for the crimes they were accused of. They could‘ve walked away after that. But they later withdrew their confessions and paid with a painful death.

What most people get wrong is why exactly she was burned at the stake. It wasn‘t her confession but that she took it back later. That made her irredeemable in the eyes of christians and not just english christians. Of course the trial and confession was bullshit but she would‘ve gotten away with it if she stuck with the narrative the English forced on her.

AI can‘t read or write. It processes and computes data in entirely different ways than we do: Based on probability. It doesn‘t understand context at all. We‘ll see how well vibe coding holds up in due time when more of our infrastructure is vibe coded and fewer solutions are actually understood.

Congrats to the devs! They won the scumbag race against cheaters. Hope they‘re proud.

Skynet was already taken and too pricey to buy out I guess.

They still don‘t log your IP and advocate to not even give them your data, though. If you give them your credit card number and then use their services to sell illegal substances and if authorities of your country then find your e-mail address and contact Proton about it then their hands are pretty much tied. If you use one of their offered anonymous ways to pay for their services then there is nothing they can give authorities. Ultimately it‘s your job to take care of your identity and Proton offers ways to protect it.

I think it is. A price hike this massive can only mean they‘re banking on panic buyers who think they can save hundreds of bucks if they buy it now. Meaning Plex probably knows it‘s over and they just want to make as much money as possible before filing bankruptcy or something. At least that‘s what it looks like to me.

We need an amplified version of the surprised Pikachu meme for some of these AI news. Literally everyone saw it coming. Especially AI bros who lied through their teeth when they claimed it wouldn‘t.

The fact that the same tech companies that fire people en masse are balls deep into the AI ouroboros can‘t be a coincidence. It‘s essentially a cruel and stupidly risky PR campaign for their shitty product.

Or people walking around me with their camera headphones pointed at me even when they don‘t realize it. Fucking love this big brother economy.

Counter point: I know exactly one person who learned Mandarin and several dozen who don‘t. Pretty much everyone learned english and (to a lesser degree) a third language that isn‘t Mandarin either. French, Spanish and Japanese are popular, though.

Classic Fediverse. Can‘t have China critique without the token whataboutism response.

If all of the claims from Chinese tech companies and research was half as good as they claim we would all learn Mandarin by now.

That was the idea. Tech companies don‘t want us to have nice things because it makes their products look all the more shitty. And so they attack anything open source that they don‘t directly benefit from. Some investors are probably seeing the shitty ink printer business and hope they can degrade 3D printing to that degree too. They take any opportunity to fuck the small people for a chance of making an easy buck.

The AI ouroboros grows, but the profit margins shrink.

Some mobile games already work that way where they claim to be f2p but it‘s just a demo of the actual game with ingame purchases for the other levels. However annoying, it‘s not flat out scamming customers like shutting down servers months after release is. Perhaps devs should still be required to label it as a demo just in case though.
So it‘s going from basically unaffordable to absolutely unaffordable?
