The United States is talking to Israeli officials and others about the idea of a safe passage for Gaza civilians after Israel’s air strikes following a deadly Hamas attack over the weekend, the U.S. national security adviser Jake Sullivan said on Tuesday.
“We are focused on this question, there are consultations going on,” Sullivan told reporters in a White House press briefing.
Israel has battered Palestinians with deadly air strikes in Gaza after Palestinian Islamist group Hamas’ attack on Israel on Saturday that left hundreds dead.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said at least 830 Palestinians were killed and up to 4,250 wounded in Israeli air strikes on the blockaded enclave since Saturday. The enclave, only 40km (25 miles) long by 10km (6 miles) wide, is home to 2.3 million people.

Well it removes the “Palestinians are in an open air prison” arguement. Also gives armed forces less places to hide and if they choose to wipe out Hamas they can pull the “anyone who stays is a combatant” card.
There are civilians on both sides who just want to exist and get out of conflict - they need a chance.
TBA how well it goes.
Yeah, the problem is, how do you prevent Hamas militants from using these channels? It’s not like anyone could expect them to abide by an agreement to not abuse a humanitarian program like that.
You probably cant stop Hamas from using these channels if they want out. We still have to try and provide safe passage for civilans.
Then the question becomes, safe passage to where? Israel isn’t going to take them, neither is Egypt
West bank maybe?
Jordan might be willing to take some since they aren’t WB refugees, KSA could potentially be talked into taking some, MBS would appreciate some demographic weight to press against the Wahhabis as he gets more aggressive about shirking them.
None of the Arab countries have really wanted Palestinian refugees historically. It’s been a big issue, and what refugees they have accepted were mistreated historically
At this point, migrating them to the west bank and then just closing off the borders with Palestine would probably be best. Pull back the Israeli settlers, give Palestine any lands that are majority Palestinians, and just shut off contact with them. The two sides aren’t going to come to a unified living situation in the next 100 years, so giving them plenty of space to be their own nation and treating them like any other nation would be best.
Pull back the Israeli settlers
Here’s where your plan falls apart. The settlers aren’t a hardline third party causing trouble for the government, they’re part of an intentional Israeli policy. They want them there, for the entire purpose of calling those areas “not Palestine”.
You can’t, and its an unfortunate part of modern warfare - basic humanitarian actions that law-abiding states follow are not usually something op-for will also follow and it is a disadvantage. That does not mean we can’t do it, only it is a cost our humanity demands.
Gunpowder, explosive test every one of them in combination to profiling. Israel has the tech for that. Sure, some will slip but most will be found.
I’m gonna guess Egypt.
Honestly, after this all shakes out, I think Gaza might not exist anymore. To be clear, that’s not a statement of desire - I just think that that’s a very likely outcome at this point.
Probably Egypt
This is the right answer. They’ve bombed the evacuation point they were promoting, but that’s what they were saying.
India
Can you imagine if Jared fucking Kushner was still “in charge” of Israel/Palestine relations?!
Do you think he is not involved?
