At the time of writing Summit for Lemmy should be completely open source.

After a lot of contemplation I’ve decided to open source the app. There are still some changes that probably need to happen before it can be considered “FOSS” but this is a huge step I think.

As I’m voiced my opinions on this previously, the main repository for Summit will not be to the public for PRs. If you encounter bugs or have any feature requests please continue to send them through the proper channels (ideally to this community).

Enjoy~~

Congratulations that you finally decide to open source it, I hope the nature of Lemmy didn’t force your hand :p (joking… A bit).

In real honesty I can’t wait to see the big improvements the app gets along the way, you have pretty much perfected this app with each update and if the community can help you to improve it further it just means you are gonna keep spreading the love with this app ;)

I love this!!! I recently switched from Summit to Thunder because it bothered me that it’s not FOSS. But frankly, I prefer Summit and I missed it. It looks like I can switch back to it. Thank you!

The repository didnt use to be public and I wanted a way for people who didnt want to use Google Play to get the app. I did some research and found out people often used obtainium which works with github. So I decided to make a 2nd repository which I can make public and just release all the APKs to it.
