If you are sitting just slap your legs while saying “Well…” and doing a noise like you were a 107 yo who just got up for first time in 13 years.

Pro tip, tell someone who isn’t talking that you are going to “start packing up” or “getting ready to leave” then you can slowly gather your coat/bag, bring your glass to the kitchen, etc. it’s stuff you would have to do anyway.

what works for me is quietly telling one person that i’m leaving, just in case anyone notices, with the understanding that i don’t expect anyone to notice.

“You’re really committed, right? You’re one of the last ones who stayed.”
“Good that you addressed me. Now I can finally announce I’m leaving. Bye!”

At my work we jokingly dismiss each other, someone will stand up and say to someone else “hey, John, you can go home now” as though they are the boss, and then that person will say to someone else “hey, Jane, you can go home” and so on. Until we are all dismissed for the day.

You inform at least one person, that’s the rule. If they really want to know what happened to u they can find out.

First I will eat one VERY last cookie.
