Doing my part to bring back rational, good faith discussions online.
If I misread your comment, I apologize. It’s not easy to dig through every comment thread and map each person’s replies to the claims they’re making in other threads. If you were simply disputing the number quoted in the meme, that wasn’t clear.
I’ve been conditioned by lots of other online interactions by insane right wing MAGA lunatics to read that as a whataboutism argument, a bias I’m realizing is creating a lot of confusion here.
I’m glad I asked. I agree, that comment is bullshit. The way you responded, it wasn’t clear what you meant, to be honest. It reads a bit like you’re defending the MAGA justification for going to war.
“They killed 20k protestors” is ambiguous in its meaning. Are they saying that’s a lie, and MAGA is stupid for not seeing that it’s a psyop? Or are they saying MAGA is stupid for thinking that’s really why we’re going to Iran, to rescue the civilians, and save them from this evil regime?
You seem to have taken the first interpretation. I think a lot of other people here assumed the second. Also, I don’t even see that comment, so it’s even more confusing what you meant.
What comment are you referring to, specifically?
Goddamn it, we fucking know.
If Trump was trying to rescue them from the Iranian regime, he sure has a weird way of going about it, yeah? The only thing he’s been bitching about is opening the strait. He’s even threatened to bomb Iran “back to the stone age where they belong” his words, if they don’t comply. And “kill an entire civilization”, doesn’t really sound like a good way to stop the murder of civilians.
Iran committing violence against their citizens is reprehensible and should be condemned. Obviously. But if you really believe that’s why Trump is waging this war, you should consider the overwhelming evidence that he’s been played by the Israelis and his sycophant cabinet is too scared to tell him it’s a fucking horrible, stupid idea, that will only serve to harm US interests in the region. If the Iranians benefit in any way from this war, it’s an unintended consequence. He’s a moron with a god complex. He has ZERO care for the Iranian people, because he only cares about himself. That’s all he’s ever cared about.

I wouldn’t buy one of these things under any circumstances for many, many reasons, safety being one of them. I will not, however, participate in victim blaming. Especially when two human lives were lost in such a horrific way due to the arrogance of whoever decided sleek futuristic looks are more important than the safety of their customers.

I guffawed at the “in the unlikely situation your model Y doesn’t have power”. Like in a car wreck when you need to escape?! The most likely cause for total battery failure just happens to overlap with the most likely time you will be on fire, trying to find your way out of this thing.
We wouldn’t want safety to ruin the AESTHETIC, would we?
If we’re going for efficiency, I think getting hit by both cars is the right move.

Fuck Oracle. They charge absolutely insane prices for their licenses and you may as well just send them a blank check because no matter what, they’re getting their slice of the pie. Larry Ellison is a disgusting MAGA cuck too. I hope he burns in hell.

That assumes every seat is filled.

It’s called an occlupanid, thank you.
They can conjure hurricanes with cloud seeding and steer them with Doppler Radar, but they’re too stupid to do it the day before the election. Go figure.
They’re doing a great job of it, I will say.

Ah yes the Ford F9000 Pedestrian Pulverizer

All great stuff. Now convince this asshole to support it:
I’m totally here for all the things you said. But maybe 1 in 10 people where I am would even consider the idea. Carbrain has metastasized here, and it’s terminal.

I understand the problem fully. The problem of solving it is a whole different kettle of fish.
How do you break the cycle? In the USA it feels insurmountable. Nothing is close enough to be walkable, so you must have cars to do just about anything. But that makes everything more spread out, which leads to even less walkable environments and so on.
I live in a hilly area, for example. Being built around car infrastructure means that steep grades don’t matter all that much because you won’t be sweating your ass off pedalling up a 10% incline; you’re in a 3 ton hermetically sealed air conditioned box with a 6.0L V8 chugging diesel to get your fat ass up the hill.
I’m sure that if we were building our environment around bike infrastructure and public transit and actually had to think about things like this, the entire road network and neighborhood layout would be drastically different. Without just starting over from the beginning, how do you fix that?

100% this. I’ve been on Linux for 27 years now (ffs I’m getting old), and until proton, I just wrote off gaming as a hit or miss experience, usually not worth the trouble. Now I’ll buy Windows only games without even checking compatibility in most cases. Unless it’s a full price AAA game, I’ll risk the off chance that it doesn’t work.
The costume has a hood though.
Real praying mantis behavior right here. Do you think… No. No, that’s crazy.
