I’m exaggerating a lot here lol
There is a lot of really bad political takes on Lemmy. But I’m unsure if it has anything to do with Lemmy and that it’s just the effect of having people argue on the internet.
The most extreme and loud voices will always dominate on the internet it seems. And most normal people will have more important stuff to do than argue with people on the internet.
It doesn’t help with some of the developers of Lemmy also are pushing pretty extraordinary stuff.
But I’ve never really used Reddit or anything similar so I just have to acclimate. Although I’m curious if I’m in the minority of feeling this when following political stuff on Lemmy.
Fringe tech brings together fringe people with fringe ideas and ideologies, especially those who see themselves persecuted.
I hadn’t thought of that, but this should have been obvious!
I dont think the devs being communist ancharcist ect is much of a problem, and neither is the communism anarcism sublemmys. Bad takes on anything are just apart of the internet as a whole. “The most extreme and loud voices will always dominate on the internet it seems.” this is true for people irl and online.
Also lemmy is better than reddit dont be a normie becoming one with the hivemind of reddit, join the outsiders on Lemmy!!
Yeah, I agree!
**Edit: **
I dont think the devs being communist ancharcist ect is much of a problem
Some of the things I’ve seen being platformed is very problematic though, but that’s not anarchocommunism itself but induviduals
Vauge on purpose or??? i’ve mostly just seen anarchism and communism on here…sure I don’t agree with some communist takes, or some anarchism takes, but to say problematic is kinda of eyebrow raising. What kind of stuff is “problematic”? Lemmy doesn’t allow nazi or proud boys, so it’s really a step above all social platforms really.
Yeah, I agree with that. Lemmy and the fediverse is really good at regulating far right speech.
What started my my impression and continued feelings being here was discovering stuff like a lot of people on some groups not acknowledging current and historical genocides, and discovering basically legitimate tankies.
It’s not on purpose to be vague, but if I feel like calling out specific people doesn’t really help.
But I do agree, Lemmy is a very well made project and has a lot of potential.
ahhh I see, yeah I don’t mean you to call out individuals, just what generally is the problem, and tankies…do ignore some critical histories and ignore calls to acknowledge it. Okay, you have a good point about being sus here, but agree lots of potential!
TBH I also feel kind of paranoid with what kind of people are on Lemmy sometimes because of some of the takes I’ve seen
I’ve mostly noticed a few comments defending China from some communists and got a quite quick ban from that sublemmy, but that’s silly and not something I’d take very seriously.
Ahh, ok. And that is probably the reason https://lemmygrad.ml/ exists now? It’s a place I’d like to keep some distance from with some of the stuff I’ve seen posted there.
But you are probably right in that I let the stuff get to me too much.
