They cost about $400-$600 at the time. About what 4k 60hz LCDs have cost for the last 10 years.

Yeah but the price of everything else has gone dramatically down while capacity increased: hard drives, ram, cpu, flash storage, and even cell phone sized screens. But not desktop screens…
