GitHub has reportedly suspended the developer’s account.

Microsoft: You’re fired! (revokes all “free” services)

Honestly, good for him. Yeah, I’m sure it was an inconvenience for a lot of people that didn’t necessarily do anything wrong, but it’s funny how it’s an open source “community” when people are profiting off your free labor without even thinking about where libraries came from, but when you need some support and withdraw that gift you’re the enemy.

If you don’t like it when “people are profiting off your free labor without even thinking about where libraries came from”, don’t use free licences…

Sure, but just because you’ve open-sourced something at some point, doesn’t mean you have to maintain it for free forever. If we require that level of commitment, no one is ever going to open-source anything.

The responsible thing would be to walk away and let others fork and maintain it.

Yes, I don’t know jack about programming, but the Dev was complaining about strong frustrations with NPM 4 years ago already.

Yes I saw that you posted that further up. I get the feeling you dislike him, but my comment was added to one about NPM and I’m not sure building bombs is relevant on this chain of replies.

It indicates a certain kind of personality that calls into question his mental state, surely? Or do you think mental disorders are compartmentalized into “work” and “home”?

I genuinely feel bad for the guy. Got screwed over by corporations freeloading off his work with no chance of ever holding his own against them.

While I don’t condone what he did, I completely understand his frustration and why he acted out like this.

Dig a bit deeper into cryptobro there. This is the guy whose apartment burned down because he had a bunch of bomb-making equipment, some of which caught fire.

He’s not an innocent victim of anything.
