I saw that the newly created community “askawoman” was deleted due to being a “troll community”, with reason being https://lemmy.ml/post/486254.

I never had the chance to visit lemmy.ml/c/askawoman, but see nothing in the provided link that indicates that it’s a troll community.

Could the administration please clarify what made you decide it had to be removed so I can make sure I don’t do the same and get my own communities blocked from federation?

Also, the corset in the community pic. Dead giveaway. No one who respects women and want to engage in informative discussions with them is using that as the icon, as their first choice, for their community.

So the community is banned not for the posts or moderation in it, but for posts made by the moderator in other communities? I think that’s unfortunate.

That type of community (especially created by someone with such a post history) is not about engaging in a real discussion, but about baiting controversial opinions to stir up drama and foster resentment amongst users. It would almost certainly result in further bans and moderation actions that would do nothing but create fruitless tensions while not actually adding anything to the site.

Their post history is mostly clean, slightly shitposty but it passes. This user, from what I’ve gathered, has more or less genuine intentions since most of their posts are about lemmy’s growth. Just to clarify, I’m opposed to the community they created as it will most definitely bring bad quality, wannabe reddit content. Though banning it for trolling doesn’t sit well with me.

I kind of liked that “beta” question, if only because it gave the opportunity to call out the whole notion as bullshit. The other one, though, that had zero redeeming qualities. Well, that and I’m gay so it doesn’t even apply.

I just want to say that, as myself having been Lemmy’s silent watchdog, I am happy to see you stand up to all this stuff before it (amongst the ongoing admin ruckus) starts spiralling out of hand. I have experience with the chans and darknet underbellies of the internet, so I can lend advice from my experience whenever needed. (I do not care about any mod or admin powers.)

I want to see this thing grow.

As I learned quickly from /c/IsTaiwanACountry, Lemmy.ml isn’t here to create definitive lines and watch people walk up to them. They copy this policy on trolling, which sums it up to “Don’t piss us off” or “Don’t make us waste time moderating”.

Is it fair? No, but that’s not the point of this instance.

“Wether it dating, sex, relationships or what we think about men farting all the time, we’ll tell you what’s REALLY on our minds, and no, we’re not ‘fine’ come join and start the discussion!” – are you kidding me or are you also trolling?
